Compared to what the Astros are rumored to be offering, both those deals would be turned down quickly. The talks have been centered on the Astros top 2 prospects who are rated and viewed very highly around the league. Hence me adding a front end guy like Buehler and having a mix of quantity/quality in my deal. I know you more than just about everyone on here want Puig gone, but the fact of the matter is, the chances of the White Sox wanting a guy like Puig who is to be a FA in two years over someone like a Toles/Thompson/Verdugo are slight. Sure he could turn it around and do well for a last place team and then he's gonna sign a big contract to the highest bidder and net you poorer draft picks. Unless he has a huge year this year and they flip him, that's the only way they get even decent value in return. It is more than likely they want 6+ years of control with what they are building with right now. The only way they'd do Puig is if he comes at a tremendously discounted price, while still seeing Buehler, Calhoun, etc... in the deal, which then makes no sense for the Dodgers.

Nah...Women get fat, men go bald.
Guess a bad back makes you old in BB parlance, but you're just one of the many millions with back problems.
My doctor tells me it's an evolutionary problem..Our bodies just haven't evolved to keep up with our environments...Or what we do for a living.

The Dodgers have the prospects to put together a package for Quintana and not deplete the system, but it would hurt, it has to. The thing is, Kershaw, Quintana, Hill and Urias would be a pretty formidable 1-4 to face in the playoffs and would make the Dodgers a favorite to win the series for a few years.

They've passed on dealing for Archer, Price, Hamels, Fernandez, Gray and on and on when it comes to front of the rotation help. Shit, Quintana's old teammate Sale was just out there and they sat that one out too because it was too spec rich thanks to other clubs being involved. Don't see it happenin, bro. At least not for that much spec gold coming from LAD. If the Stros really do have their Top 2 on the table, that'll do it

MLB preview: Dodgers will beat Indians in the World Series
    Sports Illustrated | 21 March 2017

In predicting success for even the best baseball teams, there’s usually a caveat: If they stay healthy. They’ll win the division, if they stay healthy. They’ll go deep in the playoffs, if they stay healthy.

But that caveat may not apply to the Dodgers. In 2016, they set an all-time MLB record for players sent to the disabled list, with 28—even losing the best pitcher in the known universe, Clayton Kershaw, for more than two months—yet still won 91 games and made it to the NLCS. This season they’re even deeper, expecting a full season from Rich Hill and more innings from maturing ace-in-waiting Julio Urías, with plenty of capable fill-ins for the back of the rotation. Manager Dave Roberts has brought a calm, upbeat energy and helped soothe a once-testy clubhouse, and runaway 2016 Rookie of the Year winner Corey Seager is the highlight of a stacked lineup. Then, of course, there’s the $236 million payroll, which certainly doesn’t hurt. While the Dodgers haven’t won the World Series since 1988, they’ve won the NL West en route to the playoffs four years in a row. Keep going to the barber, and eventually you’ll get a haircut. (The same could be said of SI’s World Series picks—surely one of these years we’re bound to be right.)

A number of teams could win it all this year if things break right for them. But the Dodgers are the one best positioned to win even when things go wrong.

Here are SI's complete postseason predictions:

    AL wild-card game:
    Mariners over Rangers
NL wild-card game: Mets over Giants

AL Division Series: Indians over Mariners; Red Sox over Astros
NL Division Series: Cubs over Mets; Dodgers over Nationals

AL Championship Series: Indians over Red Sox
NL Championship Series: Dodgers over Cubs

    World Series: Dodgers over Indians

Yeah, the stros top two prospects are both pitchers and are ranked by BA at #14 and #19. I would expect that the WSox woudl ask for a package that includes Bellinger, and you and I both know that Bellinger is pretty much untouchable. I guess the Dodgers could counter with Alvarez/Verdugo/Buhler but im not sure that gets the job done. Like Fall said, Dodger MGT passed on Archer, Price, Hamels, Sale so there is no reason to believe they would gut the farm for Quintana.

I like this prediction. They didn't get fancy at all with the NL picks -- they picked all the 2016 playoff teams to make it back. Honestly though, picking the Dodgers, Cubs, and Nationals as NL division winners should payoff more than not over the next several years.

I was kinda indifferent when it came to the WBC. Was more against any Dodgers players participating than anything..

My son convinced me to buy finals tickets before the tourney started since it was at dodger stadium. He made sure to hit me up on a Friday night after a few.. so low and behold we purchased legit field level section 1 seats.

What a fun time.. the atmosphere was just so different.. the PR fans were cheering so loud and having so much fucking fun... even in the 9th down by a bunch with no hope of even scoring a run.. trumpets, clackers and horns. Jumping and dancing.. plus the chicks were fine as fuck..

Anyway, just a fantastic time and so happy to be a part of the first USA ship history..

Now off to spring training to coach kids and catch a few MLB games ...

The good news is: there was a victory celebration on the mound at Dodger Stadium. :D
The bad news is: the only Dodger there went hitless and was on the losing team!

    - Wood is throwing on the back fields again today with the club trying to get him up to 6 innings. They continue to have him on the same day as Kershaw, which is interesting as it makes me think they MAY have him planned for AAA even though he has pitched so well.

    - Maeda is pitching in an MiLB game tomorrow. This too is an attempt to get him up to 6 innings.

    - Ethier had an MRI and XRay. Talking with a specialist for next course of action. No word on how bad/good it is until they chat. So he is likely to start the year on the DL
-Seager is playing in the field today in an MiLB game.

-Urias pitched today in a backfields game. 3 IP 2 H 2 K, safe to say that he will in no way be stretched out for the start of the season to make the big club.

    that is interesting about wood
maeda might be slated for the #5 spot, at least to start the season
friedman said he wasn't concerned about ethier's injury long term
that's either good news or perhaps spin
    great news on seager
but if he needs to miss the start of the season to be completely healthy (and not risk further injury/setbacks) so be it
they're really taking it slow with urias
    from a selfish/impatient standpoint i don't like it
but for a long term plan it makes sense
