Does anybody else find it peculiar that the terms of the D'Backs/Cueto offer were made public? I don't remember that happening before, but wonder if it has something to do with Stewart's brutish personality.

I guess trying to get younger and cheaper means trading away our young, cheap players?

Some of us on here want to ship Joc AND Puig out of here? A 24 and 25 year old? Just like that?

Cool. So remove Heyward from RF...where he's established almost all of his $200M value. Get rid of Joc...the only CF in the organization (Peraza and Kike shagging balls in BP doesn't count)... And trade Puig for pennies on the dollar. Crawford, SVS, Ethier love this plan!

Just sign Heyward to play RF independent of anything else. I don't see why we can't have an OF of Puig-Pederson-Heyward. Maybe you ship one of Puig/Pederson out for the right arm but not both and only on our terms.

Peraza is certainly an option in CF
If the plan is to give Heyward 30-40 games in CF and split the rest between Peraza and Kike, fine.
Peraza is 21 and Kike is 23
    Youth right?
    Right.

I think what Puig has ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISHED in the big leagues is vastly undervalued on here right now.

And trust me, I'm sick of him. He's a horrible teammate and a huge baby.

But I'm not on board with shipping out our guys who've proven they can perform and hand the keys over to role players/unproven players.

    Seager 22
    Peraza 22
    Pederson 24
    Puig 25
    Heyward 26
    Grandal 27

Why not just roll with all of them?

The only argument I can see here is we need an arm and Puig/Joc are the only MLB pieces we have to offer. But I still need to convinced that we cannot just sign Zack and see how it goes with Ryu..or find a 3/4 arm that doesn't cost us as much.

Why do two right handed bats need to split time in CF? Not to mention both are far inferior defensively to Joc. Why move Heyward off RF at all? Why 40 games? What's that number for? It all seems unnecessary and complicated. The best for CF is Joc with Kike spelling him against LHP.

It's not all about the bats or which side they hit from
If Peraza is ultimately a better defensive player then Kike, there are scenarios in which Peraza could move down and take over 2B with Kike filling in at CF

Being inferior to Joc defensively didn't matter much when Joc was getting his spot taken by Kike.
Peraza's defense in CF is fine
The point is that even in CF they have options and they're a FO that believes in platoon set ups and versatility.
And one of Heyward's best attributes is his versatility.

The narrative that this FO can't do this and can't do that is weird because they have options on the trade market, the FA market, and contrary to popular belief they have options on the team right now. Dave Cameron did a good job illustrating this about a week ago.

6yrs/120MM offer for Cueto...140MM probably would've gotten it done.

Isn't it amazing how some people are only too willing to point out another's mistakes, and yet go absolutely silent when their own predictions and statements fall totally flat...and lay in wait to publically post it ?
Hopefully, your kids are over that shit by the time they are adults...

Marc Anthony Launches Agency, Will Represent Aroldis Chapman

By Steve Adams | November 30, 2015 at 9:45am CST

Singer/actor Marc Anthony announced in a press release today that his entertainment company, Magnus Media, has launched a sports division and has signed Reds closer Aroldis Chapman as a new client.

    • The Dodgers have at least discussed the possibility of signing both Greinke and Price internally, according to Rosenthal, but they’re unlikely to go that route. Even the Dodgers and their seemingly limitless budget aren’t keen on the notion of paying three starters in the vicinity of $30MM annually, and they already have one such pitcher in Clayton Kershaw.

Yeah if Marc Anthony sees it our way, do your thing, papi.
I wonder if they're about to facilitate his move to a different team, maybe put a little more pressure on Cincy to finally budge

Latest On Johnny Cueto’s Asking Price
By Steve Adams | November 30, 2015 at 11:52am CST

Johnny Cueto reportedly rejected a six-year, $120MM contract offer from the D-Backs recently, and ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick now reports that teams in the market for Cueto believe he’s seeking $140-160MM in total — a contract that would vault him into Jon Lester territory (Twitter link).

Thinks he can get around 23MM AAV
Somewhat questionable with his health history and flare ups, but there's obviously been no Tommy John and the pools of interested teams is probably serious, so we'll see
Houston might be a good fit or at least provide the floor

By Steve Adams | November 30, 2015 at 12:29pm CST

The Red Sox and outfielder Chris Young are in agreement on a multi-year contract, pending a physical, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter link). Young is represented by CAA Sports.
