Haven't really seen what most of you have posted because it's game time so I'll go back and read later but fuck....what a let down. Would have been nice to get a reliever but I'm sure the padres wanted to rape us for Benoit just like every other team out there. I don't get why the rays give up price for Austin Jackson and Drew smyly when they were demanding every top player in our farm system it seemed. I think the sox made out well with that Lester deal as well as the lackey deal. Hopefully we make some noise at the waiver deadline but for this year the A's and tigers def got better....luckily they both are in the AL.

This is how I see it playing out now:

Puig in center, Kemp in right becomes permanent for the rest of the season (and hopefully beyond), as that seems to be working out nicely.

Ethier will be kept on the roster for the remainder of this year, for goodwill if for no other reason. This allows him one more shot at winning a ring with the Dodgers. However, he will for all intents and purposes be lost at the end of the bench. After the season, he'll be dealt for little in return with the Dodgers eating a big chunk of his salary.

Crawford will be the starting LF, but will platoon with Van Slyke based on matchups, as they are now.

Joc will be a September callup, and unless he goes crazy, will be left off the playoff roster. Next year he's your everyday LF from day 1, with Crawford taking over Ethier's current role.

Of course, an injury could change this all.

Dodgers need to get Perez off the roster, so yes we need a pen arm

I would love to see how Paco, Dominguez, and Yimi Garcia are that they keep them down there for now... How little do they think of them that they wanna watch Chris Perez suck shit instead?. Seriously, the bullpen is the biggest fucking weakness and the one I thought would be easiest to fix.

I'm personally a big fan of Dominguez, he should be up, Paco too, Yimi is even better than Perez, IDK why they won't let these guys have a chance, now.

yeah what kills me is that it's not like it's just ONE guy in the minors right now. It'd understand that they don't wanna cut Perez and bring up the one reliever with upside in Triple A cause that'd be very risky in terms of depth. But theres multiple pitchers down there that at least have more upside. We know what Chris Perez is. He is what he was last year: Bad.

Shit, I also forgot about Baez. That's at least 4 guys, bring one up and you still have enough depth in case of injury or someone sucking. So frustrating at times

Paco never should have been sent to the minors in the first place.

    Per mlbtr

    • Scott Elbert of the Dodgers has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A,tweets Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. The lefty was designated for assignment on Tuesday. He has been trying to work back to form after not throwing a big league pitch over the last two seasons. Elbert had the right to refuse the assignment, but will stay with the organization, tweets Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngeles.com.

Mlb.com had them as the 17th, 18th and 19th best prospects in ALL of baseball and that list includes guys like Tavares and Polanco who are in the the majors. Joc is the old man in that group at 22.

    1. They're probably thinking that they don't want to start those players arbitration clock until absolutely necessary. Bully is a need and guys like Maholm and Perez are bad right now but there are always organizational inter workings that baffle us fans. I don't have an answer but I trust the brass until they completely lose their minds.

So while the Dodgers wanted Lester or Price or San Diego reliever Joaquin Benoit, they weren't willing to part with top prospects Corey Seager, Julio Urias or Joc Pederson to get them, and Colletti indicated it would have taken at least one, sometimes more, plus second-level prospects to make one of those trades.
"Maybe we were hindered by having three of the top 30 prospects, because everybody started there and tried to stay there," Colletti said. "If I told you some of the players we asked for and the response was one of the three, you'd find it laughable, but that was the case.
"If we didn't think the three had a chance to be significant players, they'd be out of here. But we do. This franchise's greatest years were when the team came through the system. In its heyday, they developed internally. But you have to be patient about it."

Sorta like a few years ago when Kemp was younger and we had a glut of outfielders and every trade conversation started and ended with Kemp.

Lol I can already see the Padres.

"Yeah, you're gonna have to give us Urias for Benoit." Gtfo.

So my internet was down all day yesterday, which means I was freaking out with the deadline coming up. Here are my thoughts on the events of yesterday into the future:
    1) Weak haul for Price. I really like Franklin, but his stock is down and I felt that Tampa could have probably done better.

    2) Very disappointed that we did not nab a 4-5 starter or reliever. Haren has been broken for weeks now and Beckett is looking hampered by his injury. The bullpen is an absolute wreck and needed a jump.

    3) It's time for Paco, get rid of Perez.

    4) I'm fine with the Elbert DFA as he was not gonna get nabbed. He has done well recently in AAA and that could be another great get for down the stretch.

    5) Our system has gotten extremely top heavy, very fast. It is not just Joc, Seager and Urias, but people forget Chris Anderson was a top 100 prospect and people are already grading Holmes better than him. Could be fun to see 5(+?) Dodger prospects in the top 100 next year.

    6) And finally, for the first time since I can remember, September call ups are going to be fun with this team as we finally have real reinforcements coming: Y Garcia, Paco, Dominguez, Elbert to potentially help with the pen and Arru, Guerrero and Joc to help in the field. Could be some interesting auditions for the playoffs going on.

According to MLB.com, Urias ranks 7th among all SPs, and is the top LH. Seager is 5th among SS, and 4th among 3B (the 3 guys ahead of him have had 30+ HR seasons either this year or last year, and one is Kris Bryant, who just might top the mlb.com postseason list). Finally, Joc is 3rd among OF behind the top 2 prospects in all of baseball (Buxton & Tavares).

Remember Paco wore down last year from all the work during the MLB season. Not sure he was on he post season roster because of. This year he should be stronger and more ready for post season play when get comes .

Amaro is going to be desperate to please people after his joke of a deadline. Wouldn't be surprised if Hamels goes for cheap.

I honestly would not be surprised if teams avoid dealing with us from a pure fear standpoint. With our money and strengthening farm system, teams probably don't want to be the one that helps turn us into a dynasty.

Read something saying that the Price acquisition makes the Detroit rotation virtually the same as last year when you factor in Max, Sanchez, and Verlander's regressions. Also when you account for Fister not being in the rotation. Definitely improves their team, but it's not like they're guaranteed a championship.
