You can't possibly know that. There is no way you can even predict whether the prospect ever cracks the show, while Hernandez is and has been a major league player for a number of years. No, he's not any where close to all-star, but he's not minor league either

Frias, Rojas and Arrubarena up. Good luck to Corey Seager and the Lookouts in the 1st round of play offs this Thursday and to the Ogden Raptors as well!

I don't think Frias is some legit pitching prospect we have, but I'm hoping he goes on some hot streak for September. It would beat having to use Haren and Hernandez

I read somewhere that Frias will take Haren's spot in the rotation.

Don't know where to post this so here goes.

Didn't make it clear but in my post but for the sake of accuracy, I meant taking his turn and pushing Haren back.

NL East Links: Stanton, Harvey, MASN

By Steve Adams [September 4, 2014 at 9:50pm CDT]
While there have been indications that the Marlins won’t trade Giancarlo Stanton, many writers continue to speculate and discuss the possibility with league sources, and ESPN’s Buster Olney is the latest to talk Stanton with executives from around baseball (ESPN Insider required). Olney spoke to many executives about the potential NL MVP, with one telling him, “No team is going to give up the kind of prospects that is going to be required without knowing they’re going to be able to keep him.” The “kind of prospects” to which that official refers, according to Olney, is a Top 5 type of prospect that can serve as the anchor for the deal in front of many other well-regarded prospects. One executive half-joked that the Dodgers, for example, should open negotiations by simply offering all three of Corey Seager, Joc Pederson and Julio Urias, as the price will be astronomical. (Olney notes that Miami would ask for two of the three at the very least.)

uh oh..so what do we think? i mean..1st let's consider that Stanton's had durability issues before this season, so there is some risk. however, Stanton's still so young and maybe he's more comfortable playing everyday now..he's obviously plenty strong, but maybe he's gained his " man strength " now and can harness all that power.

but here's another thing to consider and they don't make mention of it in the rumor..what if we centered " our Stanton offer " with a cuban player named Puig? damn..i felt disloyal even typing that, but you'd have to think Miami's ownership would move to the edge of their seats if Kasten did offer up Puig. Miami is obviously Puig's home base and with the massive cuban population he'd become an instant rock star there and move the Marlins up next to the Dolphins and that's saying something because Miami is a football town. Puig would be a bigger star there than Stanton is, guaranteed. and of course Stanton's home base is LA + he's voiced displeasure with Miami's organization so they've gotta look at deals if he doesn't wanna stay there.

so instead of Joc, Seager and/or Urias for Stanton..what if we offered Puig as the centerpiece, Alex Guerrero ( they have nothin going @ 2nd base), Arruba, Crawford, Ethier, Chris Anderson, and a shit load of cash on Crawford's and Ethier's books? Lol is that even doable/legal? i mean i doubt Miami would get anything close to that a year from now when Stanton's closing in on free agency, and maybe we wouldn't even have to give up THAT much by then, but the point is..i think we could build a decent package around Puig if it came down to it and it'd probably be good enough to land us Stanton without giving up all 3 of our top farm guys. the biggest factor is Stanton's willingness to stay there and again, he's been very critical of how they do things.

I'd have no problem centering a Stanton offer around Puig. But the fact that Stanton is 24 years old and is a free agent after 2016 makes we want to wait until 2016 and just sign him outright.
    Stanton
    Joc
    Puig
    Hallelujah that'd be great.

what did we do with Kemp in that picture?..send him to Baltimore for Wieters?

but also think about this..what if Stanton could get us over the hump next year and in 2016 before he turns free agent? i mean, don't get me wrong..that's a hell of an outfield, but i'd just as soon go with Joc, Stanton and Kemp in the outfield for the next 2 yrs and get the power bat that we need ASAP. we could probably avoid other teams like the Yankees and Cubs going all out for him in free agency too and get a deal done with Stanton early. that's really the biggest thing in this..Stanton's ready to be paid now. he doesn't really wanna wait until 2016/free agency. i say if we're gonna target him..let's get him and pay him now while he's 24 going on 25 and not 26 going on 27.

That's a really compelling argument. I'd just love to hang on to Puig too. and the Kemp thing brings be right back around to the NL needing to establish the DH.

I see no reason why he can't. There aren't going to be many teams (if any) that can
    1. match the Marlins asking price for Stanton
and 2. Pay him the kind of $$ he will command.

I think Marlins/team that trades for Stanton would lock him up for 2016 ends.
