Kemp might continue to prove Koufax wrong from a different team next year.

if it did, it'd be what everybody asked for earlier in the season when Kemp was sucking..to sell high on him when he regains some of his value. just sayin. Friedman might have some big fish to fry..i guess he's got the right name. :duck:

we do have 1 large issue within the lineup..the 2-hole and the lack of consistent approach there. could they deal Kemp and get a guy in return to fill that need? probably. but with Baltimore declining Nick Markakis' option i think he could be a target for us in free agency. now, he's a leadoff guy and we think we have one of those, and he's an outfielder..and we obviously have plenty of those. but if the idea is to fill these roles with the right guys and move the guys who don't fit..i think Markakis could bump Crawford out of LF. Puig produces, but is so erratic with his approach that i really don't think he can be counted on at the top of our lineup..not if we want consistency. i think it's just who Puig is..a guy who's better off hitting 5th.

Markakis is consistent with his approach at the plate, patient, has pop, makes contact, and even though he's a lefty he's done well against lefties his whole career. i see Joc as a guy who could be similar one day, but IMO he needs more work and preferably in OKC as a leadoff man for a year..he has the right approach, but he's gotta work on not striking out so much and hitting more line drives. so Friedman could sign a 31 yr old Markakis to a 2 or 3yr deal to hold fort in LF and deal CC. or maybe Friedman takes advantage of the market and pushes for a Puig/Stanton swap..if that happens it'd open it up for Joc in CF.

not yet, but it's been reported that Baltimore is gonna decline his option.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Orioles plan to decline their part of Nick Markakis' $17.5 million mutual option for 2015.
Advice: He'll receive a $2 million buyout and become a free agent. The decision isn't a big surprise, as his production simply doesn't warrant the bloated salary. Still, the Orioles are interested in bringing him back for less. Markakis has spent his entire nine-year career with the Orioles and batted .276/.342/.386 with 14 home runs and 50 RBI over 155 games this past season.

17.5M is too much..but 13-14M a year over 2 or 3 years is right up our alley. he's a grinder and right from the top of the lineup you begin to change the free-swinging culture within the LAD. it'd be a start.

I've always been a Markakis fan, he's a good RF too... but I don't see any fit, the last thing we need is another outfielder.

what if Friedman opened up the pocketbook and overpaid for the Panda just because..just to piss of the Gnats' fans? i hate signing former Gnats, but i think i'd make an exception and crack a smile on that one

Don't be surprised if one of the two outfielders dealt is The Chinchilla.
    He carries the most value.

Also. Friedman knows his way around a system and if the 21st century of sabermetrics doesn't meet up to what he might see in our current "prospects, you might see a couple of them dealt as well to off set a deal involving one or two of those big contracts. I definitely see Zack Lee on the market in a package.

Go bite that fluffy pillow codge. You know me. It takes an entire season to prove something. One half? No. Not when he could have done more. Not when he played like he was afraid to get hurt. The mental midget has a new mind block to overcome.

Thanks to Koufax, "Chinchilla Blast" became a thing, so I'm cool with it.

The problem with trying to trade Kemp or Crawford at this point is they finished the season hot. Now assuming no one will pick up their full contract does Friedman really want his Dodger beginning to be us paying part of the salary for Kemp or Crawford to be dealing with another team? Do we want to risk a return to Juan Rivera days? Kemp and Crawford are the only two outfielder who finished the season being productive. Do we want our out field next year to be Puig, Dre and Peterson/SVS with their September numbers? Perhaps we are interested in the new Cuban outfielder as a replacement for Kemp or Crawford but unless, beware a return to Juan Rivera days. Also who protects AGon? He flourished with Kemp behind him. If Hanley goes who protects Kemp? Crawford and if he goes? More holes and less pieces to replace them with.
