Wow, Irish, Kemp has really hit rock bottom. No mention of and forgotten all ready and or not a key player who left. I guess double Butt and Koufax were right. Totally insignificant. No offense about double butt, butt I can't remember his name only the graphic you made for him

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodge...ontract-dodgers-cardinals-20150131-story.html

e Dodgers won 94 games last year, repeating as champion of the National League West. They could open the season with a new second baseman, shortstop, catcher and center fielder, with newcomers in 40% of the starting rotation and 50% of the bullpen.

Are they better? Zack Greinke isn't buying it, at least not yet.

"In the playoffs last year, I thought our team was the best team in baseball," Greinke said Saturday at the Dodgers' Fan Fest. "Obviously, we didn’t prove it. But I thought we were the best team in baseball. So, to say we're better than that, I don’t know if you could say that."

After all that shuffling, will Dodgers be improved next season?

Andrew Friedman, the Dodgers' president of baseball operations, traded outfielder Matt Kemp and second baseman Dee Gordon, cut pitcher Brian Wilson and let Hanley Ramirez go via free agency. Friedman said he wanted to remake the Dodgers into "a highly functional team, instead of a collection of talent.
Said Greinke: "When you change a team a lot, sometimes it takes a year, or a couple of months, to jell. It doesn’t matter if you bring in the greatest guys in the world. It takes a little time to get used to them."

Greinke said he disputed the conventional wisdom that Friedman had used addition by subtraction to improve the Dodgers' clubhouse chemistry.
"I don’t think we got rid of anyone that was an issue in our clubhouse," Greinke said. "I wouldn’t say everyone got along with everyone that is gone, but I would say there was definitely more positives than negatives with everyone that we got rid of.

"If you bring in a super clubhouse guy, that’s a positive. I don’t know the guys we brought in enough to know that we brought in some amazing person."

Sounds very interesting...along with the comments from AJ (about Kemp being a "great clubhouse guy) I think the spin doctors, working for the new FO PR damage control, I would imagine, are a bunch of lying cocksuckers.
If I didn't love the team, I would wish for these scumbags to burn in hell if that's what they think their fans deserve...after they failed to sign who they originally wanted. Come up with the" toxic force" in the clubhouse shit... I don't know what's worse... Ned's ineptness or a bunch of lying scum.
Good for Greinke for setting it straight.

who knows what zack will do
but at least he has good things to say...
    • Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke says that he hasn’t decided whether to opt out of his contract after the season, as Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times writes. The 31-year-old would forfeit three years and $71MM if he opts out, but the recent deals landed by Max Scherzer and Jon Lester indicate that he can likely make even more. Still, the hurler was very complimentary of the organization. “I do know I have really enjoyed L.A. I don’t think you could get a better organization. The owners are amazing. Our front office is, by reputation, the best – or at least in the top three in the game. Our coaching staff is great too. There’s not really any better options anywhere besides here,” Greinke said.

Dodgers Broadcast Teams In 2015 Will Have Different Look
by Vincent Samperio | Dodgers Nation – 3 hours ago

With Vin Scully leading the way, it’s hard to find others to surround the Hall of Fame broadcaster in the booth.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have put a very respectable team around Scully, with Rick Monday, Charley Steiner, Jaime Jarrin and others on the fellow broadcast teams. Former Dodgers also join Monday in the booths, as Nomar Garciaparra, Orel Hershiser and Fernando Valenzuela all serve as broadcasters.

While the names will remain the same, their jobs in 2015 will be a little different. The Dodgers announced their teams for television and radio for the upcoming year:

The Los Angeles Dodgers today announced their 2015 broadcast teams. Hall of Famer Vin Scully will return on SportsNet LA and Dodgers Radio AM570 KLAC while Charley Steiner joins Rick Monday on AM570 KLAC and works with Orel Hershiser and Nomar Garciaparra on SNLA games in which Scully does not appear. Kevin Kennedy will be the analyst and Monday the play-by-play man on AM570 KLAC when Steiner moves into the TV booth.

In a first for Spanish-language baseball broadcasts, Hall of Famer Jaime Jarrín will be joined by his son, Jorge, on Univision America 1020 (KTNQ). All games broadcast on SNLA in English will also be presented in Spanish with Pepe Yñiguez and Fernando Valenzuela. Manny Mota will contribute to both the Dodgers’ Spanish radio and TV broadcasts.

SNLA will have Scully calling games for the second consecutive season and its signature live daily studio show “Access SportsNet: Dodgers” will once again feature Garciaparra, John Hartung, Hershiser, Jerry Hairston Jr., Alanna Rizzo and Steiner. SNLA’s 2015 complete programming coverage for spring training and the regular season will be announced in the near future.

The Dodgers will head into the season with one of the best overall crews in baseball.

And I still won't be able to watch them. Well, I guess I better move to South Korea if I want to be able to watch dodger games.

ESPN’s Jim Bowden Has Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly On Hot Seat
by Matthew Moreno | Dodgers Nation – 5 hours ago

The Los Angeles Dodgers won 94 games in 2014, repeated as NL West division champions, then had their season come to a grinding halt against the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS. Compounding matters for the Dodgers, the Wild-Card San Francisco Giants went on to win their third World Series in five years.

In response to falling short of their goal, despite carrying a payroll of over $200 million, the Dodgers added Andrew Friedman, Farhan Zaidi, and a slew of other executives to the front office, and remade the roster. While former general manager Ned Colletti was reassigned to an advisor role, manager Don Mattingly retained his position.

With Spring Training beginning in just under three weeks, ESPN’s Jim Bowden ranked the top-six managers who are on the hot seat, and has Mattingly listed at No. 4:

    4. Don Mattingly, Los Angeles Dodgers

Mattingly continues to develop into one of the game’s best managers, as his win total continues to climb, from 82 in 2011 to 94 last season. He succeeded with 21 overturned calls last year on challenges and did a phenomenal job handling a difficult overcrowded outfield situation. He also had to deal with some complicated diva type personalities and a bullpen that lacked depth; the latter was exposed by the in the team’s playoff to the Cardinals. Mattingly’s ability to handle players and give them confidence, even during their slumps, was excellent. The only reason he’s somewhat on the hot seat is because of the new regime of team president Andrew Friedman and GM Farhan Zaidi. New regimes often want to hire their own managers.

Mattingly will have to adjust to more analytics and lineup suggestions than he’s used to, and how the trio communicate and work together could be the most important part of his future employment in LA. In addition, given the organization’s drastic changes to player personnel after a 94-win season, the new front office has significant pressure to go forward. If the organization goes backward, it could look to blame the manager. The Dodgers’ expectations are World Series or bust, and with that mindset, whoever sits in this seat will always be on the hot seat.

As Bowden notes, a new front office typically coincides with a new manager being hired, though Friedman has done nothing but voice his support for Mattingly since joining the Dodgers. When Joe Maddon suddenly became available, Friedman opted to stick with Mattingly rather than reuniting with the only manager he’s worked with to this point.

While Mattingly managed to survive the offseason, it’s safe to assume fate with the Dodgers beyond 2015 is largely tied to the team’s success this upcoming season. Another 90-plus win year coupled with a postseason run falling short of winning a World Series would likely spell the end of Mattingly’s tenure in Los Angeles.

This , I think is news, so it's here...Mike Krukow, the Giant announcer (or one of 'em), has said recently that the Cardinals are the Dodgers biggest rivals, not the team he works for. Which , IMO, is very interesting...and that Yasiel Puig, is "very young and very dumb". And that although not mentioned by Dodger teammates, is something they think about all the time. I guess it's impossible not to. "Thank you , Yasiel Puig"...
Both statements, which upon reflection, appear to be very true. The Giant success is all, of course, after the Dodgers blow it to the Cards, so they never really go head to head with us.
Krukow, does not suck, and I consider these SF guys right after Vinny, the best.
But kind of odd this comes from a Giant guy.

Krukow isn't a bad announcer, but he's said dumb stuff before publically like this so it's not surprising. I believe he was calling Puig dumb for saying the Cardinals are the Dodgers biggest rivals right now; which, I believe is true. Giants during the regular season for sure, but it's not like we have the Yankees-Red Sox thing where we square off in the postseason every year like how they used to.

ahem... again mostly because WE don't get that far...

and calling Puig out as being "very dumb" shall not be defended until he stops acting very dumb...

Yeah, that's true, it is largely because of us acting like the Broncos of the MLB, but that still doesn't take away from the fact that we haven't faced them in the postseason in ages.

My problem is that it's not even about what he said. It's more about why say anything at all? In today's society people believe for some reason that they always have something to say and/ or that people actually care about their opinion. It's just like keep your mouth shut and worry about yourself.

If we sign Moncada before June we won't be subject to any penalties? I think I'm confused.

Can't sign anyone over (I think the number is) 300,000 dollars in the next international signing period and also the 100% tax on the signing bonus he is signed to.

A couple of clubs have already exceeded their limit and will be unable to sign int'l players after July 15. They have already loaded up with int'l signings. If the Dodgers sign him for the expected amount they will be over the cap also and not be able to sign after this signing period without having loaded up thus far. We could go for it and make several major signings in this period and sit out the next two years like the Cubs and Yankees.

For it to be a rivalry, both teams have to trade off wins. Since the Dodgers have only beaten the Cardinals once out of five pkayoff series, the Dodgers and Cardinals are not true rivals. I guess they're just their daddies.
