Pads are just trying to okie doke the dodgers into giving them more loot. They know the dodgers have gone past the point of no return with this deal and the other deals that feed off of this one. I couldn't care less about the money at this point I just think it's funny how the nerds are being taught a lesson

How so? Arthritis in the hip isn't detectable just by looking at him AND most physicals don't even consider looking for it so where is the lesson? I do agree though it's a money grab by the Padres.

This is odd. The time frame for all these trades seems excessive. Usually it's trade, physical and done. It's over a week now ffs, and I don't want him back.

Kasten Expects SportsNet LA Resolution By Opening Day
by Matthew Moreno | Dodgers Nation -- December 17, 2014

Prior to the start of the 2014 season, the Los Angeles Dodgers partnered with Time Warner Cable to launch SportsNet LA, which would provide around-the-clock coverage of the team.

However, distribution of SportsNet LA didn’t reach it’s full potential as Charter, Dish Network, DirecTV, and several other carriers failed to come to terms with TWC on carriage rights.

In an interview with Chris Russo of High Heat, Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten expressed optimism over a resolution being reached:

"I think so. I believe so. I hope so. I’m reasonably confident because of all the other business factors that are going on; everyone knows about the various mergers. We think when that gets settled, we expect the full coverage to be apart of the overall solution. We are working on it everyday."

As for the Dodgers needing to accept blame for the situation, Kasten believes they are responsible for helping foster a solution and is hopeful SportsNet LA will be widely available come Opening Day in 2015:

"The point is we do accept our share of the responsibility to get to the solution. I think blame is the wrong word because what we have arrived at is going to be good for all Dodger fans. The fact that we have 24 hours of Dodger-only content and world-class network level content, that’s a good thing for Dodger fans. That’s where we’re going for all Dodger fans and soon, we hope very soon, certainly by Opening Day, we think all of them will be able to start appreciating that."

As the Dodgers were locked in a race for the NL West title, TWC made SportsNet LA available over the air for the final six games of the regular season so fans were able to watch them clinch the division. With the merger of AT&T and DirecTV expected to be finalized early next year, SportsNet LA being carried by DirecTV should soon follow.

Love his former Minor league teams name, the Biloxi Shuckers!

Nolan Arrenado anyone? Morosi just said he's being shopped by the Rocks.

Angels, Dodgers Complete Drew Butera Trade
By Steve Adams [December 18, 2014 at 1:33pm CST]

The Dodgers announced today that they have acquired infielder/outfielder Matt Long from the Angels to complete last week’s Drew Butera trade. However, the team also announced that it has has immediately flipped Long and left-hander Jarret Martin to the Brewers in exchange for catcher Shawn Zarraga, essentially making the entire sequence into a minor three-team trade.

A 2009 30th-round draft pick, Long has never appeared on an Angels Top 30 prospect list (per Baseball America), but he does have a solid minor league track record. The 27-year-old has yet to reach the Majors but owns a nice career slash line of .279/.358/.442 in 1102 plate appearances at the Triple-A level.

The 25-year-old Martin was previously designated for assignment and outrighted this past offseason. He spent the 2014 campaign with Double-A Chattanooga where he posted a strong 3.29 ERA in 54 2/3 innings of relief. While Martin’s 64 strikeouts in that time were impressive, he also walked a very troublesome 48 hitters. Control problems have long been an issue for Martin, who has averaged 6.1 walks per nine innings since being selected in the 18th round of the 2009 draft.

Zarraga is a 25-year-old catcher that was born in Aruba but attended high school in Florida and was selected in the 44th round by the Brewers in 2007. Zarraga was excellent at Double-A this past season, hitting .330/.440/.419 in 267 plate appearances, but he batted just .213/.304/.255 in 57 PA at Triple-A — his first crack at that level.

This whole Kemp arthritis thing is beginning to remind me of botched Lakers CP3 trade. I hope it doesn't lead to the same disastrous result.

BTW, why aren't trades announced after the physicals?

I don't think I'm stretching hear in saying unless the Giants land Shields/Scherzer, that they could very well be our main competition in the NL West. Cashner, Ross, Kennedy is a solid top 3 and now they've gotten 3 legit bats.
