    I think you are correct in your view that the Padres will be markedly improved and quite possibly our main competition. I know you're only spitballing but the Gnats WON'T sign Scherzer. A 3 team race is very possible especially when the Gnats have Bochy and the Padres have Black.

    Black is a great manager. Padres have a dominant bullpen, very good top 3 in their rotation, and now they will have a good offense. Hell, if Josh Johnson can rebound and live up to his potential, they could do what the Royals did last season.

    Plus they still have their number 1 prospect who is a catcher in Austin Hedges.

    I have to say, I think the Pads are looking nice. They still need an infield bat or two, IMO. The rotation and pen should be solid, per usual.

    Yeah, they'll need some health luck and also wonder how there defense is gonna look in that park with Kemp/Myers in the corners and Norris? Behind the dish.

    But the offense has potential now and they will probably pitch well

    Also will need other players to be at least average and not horrible and maybe they can slot in second place :)

    If anyone gambles, they would be a good bet right now. Currently at 40/1 odds, which will surely jump up once these trades are finalized.

    Padres aren't gonna give two shits when Kemp hits a game winning HR off of Kershaw in the seventh inning to win Game 7 of the NLCS

    Padres are also bloated with starting pitching. Cashner, Ross, Kennedy, Josh Johnson, Cory Luebke, Brandon Morrow, and Despaigne.

    yea, that's not very formidable. Cashner has had an assortment of ailments and Kennedy is blah. i'll give you Ross, but he's nothin special either. everybody else is ass.

    Josh Johnson is a damn good pitcher when healthy. So is Luebke. I'd post stats on Despaigne, but baseball reference is drunk and hasn't put up his major league stats.
