I have been triggered.
Mex means Mix/Mixed
America means Mixing Bowl/Crucible/Melting Pot.
Essentially if you come to America you come to get mixed into the recipe.
And when you leave America you leave a Mexican. You all shook up and remixed by our rocknroll.
What they call in Europe an "Ugly American" is because as a Mexican you learn that trying to control how others think is witchcraft.
Instead of being what you are supposed to be "European" you ARE what YOU is and you is what you BE.
So it is best to let others think what they may which is the best way to keep your heart light.

That is actually the preferred way.
The guys in the warehouse are all FOB Chinese. One speaks a lick of English but the other cant even get his lips wet.
But... they both have no problem saying "pendejo" everytime i tell them somebody canceled an order.
Or say "pinche madre" whenever I tell them to do something they generally would rather not.
They dont know what the words mean literally but they know what they mean in a more important way.
And they love my food and are so confused that Mexican food is so similar to Chinese food.
I tell them that the best food is the food from the working class people of any place in the world.
And that food will always have a certain familiarity to it no matter where you are from.
Onions, Garlic, Oil, Aromatic Spices, chilies, fruits, rice, vegetables, poultry, and seafood are the world staples for the working poor.
If your house smells like this in the evenings and the weekends then you are one more step to being mexican.
If you like big asses but not necessarily Khoi/Pygmy big asses then you are again on the way to being mexicano.
