I don’t think too highly of Gerrit Cole and the offseason isn’t over, but it’s frustrating seeing this while we’re doing nothing.

I 100% understand and agree with keeping payroll below the tax to go after superstars next offseason, but I would’ve taken Rivero or Cutch. Could still happen I guess.

My attitude is if we would've just sacked up ONCE from 2013-2017 and won a WS, this would be much easier to take. But as the drought exceeds 30 years, it's difficult to handle.

It’ll all be worth it when we get Harper....and he Corey and Cody go a combined 3-81 with 74 K’s in the 2019 NLCS

Literally have nightmares of them whiffing on the same back foot breaking ball on loop. Both on TV and from my seat.

For whatever reason the Corey homer in Game 2 is what I always remember. That was as good as it ever looked. From there on out it was pain.

    @JeffPassan

Source: "No deal" for Gerrit Cole to Houston. "False rumor."

As is the case with these things, talks could pick back up quickly. For now, though, Gerrit Cole to Houston is not happening.

Pirates and Rays finally facing the facts
Who's next on the reality tour?
Not SFG for some dumb reason
If Miggy had put a good season together he'd maybe be moving, but DET is still in sell mode, has faced the facts
Old man Angelos is too god awful to let Duquette do his job..or to let him leave BMore for another

Yep. But you know that spec price is gonna be insane with all that team control..right up there with Yelich and Archer
Unless some team wants to bail them out of Miggy's contract, of course, that'd count for something
DET probably doesn't wanna play that game though

FWIW, nobody is doing anything, that's why Martinez, Hosmer, Arrieta, Darvish, Holland, Cobb, Cain, Moustakas, Bruce and Lynn are all unsigned. Not saying they will sign any of those guys, but they don't really need to, the projections love this team in the division, and they can address some of the remaining needs in July.

I mean I know, I’m not mad at anyone, it’s just never fun to do nothing. I’m hoping a few stars come off the market and we can steal someone like Cobb or Cain at 4/52 or something like that. I’d be fine if we didn’t though.

Greinke the cautionary tale right now?
Fork over big $$$ for the top arm on the FA market, while LAD loses Kershaw for months in back to back years and still steamrolls..

LAD holding up the bank, all NL teams on the floor..hands where we can see'em
All NL teams except SFG, that is..somebody always tries to be a hero. Smh

Yu Darvish is widely considered to be the top starting pitcher available in free agency, and while his market — like the market of nearly every other top free agent this winter — has been slow to progress, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Darvish has whittled the decision down to a handful of teams: the Rangers, Cubs, Astros, Twins and Yankees. Darvish himself has hardly been shy about stirring the pot on social media this winter, though, and he created an additional layer of intrigue tonight when he responded to the report by tweeting: “I know one more team is in.” The Dodgers may very well be the sixth team to which Darvish alluded, as Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times tweeted tonight that Los Angeles “remains in the mix” to bring Darvish back to L.A.

He’s extremely lucky if three of those pounds are muscle. We will be extremely lucky if this adjustment translates to 2 more HR next year. Stupid. Does he think he’s going to hit 50 homers now or something? He just got slower and less agile.
