If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Geez, not expecting it, but I really hope the FO has something up its sleeve before the season starts. I don't want the team to blow their chances at the 2019 off season, but with the FO MO, what's to say they don't nickel and come their way next year? Maybe their sole goal is to re-sign Kershaw and call it an off season?

This team just seems weaker than it was at the end of last season. I'm actually glad we didn't give Yu that Cubs offer, but we could use another starter or at least add to the BP depth.

Safe assumption that you also don't believe that they could add another quality starter/quality BP piece at the trade deadline?

Bob Nightenfail has told Bob Nightenfail that LAD is the favorite to land Harper in FA.. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...018/02/19/bryce-harper-free-agency/351232002/
Interesting take by Harper on Arrieta there, noted.
But really all that piece does for me is beg the question..why is Manny Machado still with the O's right now? Lol
I mean I get why Harper is still with the Nats, as they're prepared to offer him a competitive contract, but what the fuck are the O's doing?
O's seemingly waiting for their Ilitch/Tigers' moment..sitting back, waiting for Angelos to die in order to get operations in order.
And looking at Angelos' little Gollum looking ass, he's not going anywhere until he finds his precious

    Lol.
So some guy writes the Dodgers are " most likely" to land Harper...put this in the annals, along with Ohtani, Stanton (who tried like hell to be a LAD), and an ever growing list.
In fact, this type of "most likely to land this one and that one" is a bona fide kiss of death these days, guaranteed.

 To be honest I don' think the nerds are in the business in breaking the bank for 1 player or this group is into that. Unless its a home grown player.

I am going to call it now. No Machado or Harper next year. The will continue to fill in with vets with there chosen prospects that the nerds like.

There I said I will own it.

Don Mattingly says Bryce Harper off base to critique Marlins' moves: 'Take care of your own dugout'

JUPITER, Fla. -- Marlins manager Don Mattingly says Washington Nationals slugger Bryce Harper should not be critiquing Miami's offseason moves.

Harper said Monday he was shocked the Marlins traded their entire outfield during the offseason. He added that Miami could have become a formidable team by adding a couple of pitchers.

Harper joined a chorus of critics questioning the direction of the Marlins under new CEO Derek Jeter.

Mattingly stressed on Tuesday that it's important to "take care of your own dugout" and said it's "not really his place to comment on us."

"He doesn't really know what goes on over here," Mattingly said. "He may think he does. But he doesn't know what the discussions are. He doesn't know our players."

Beef? Hahaha Quit hitting yourself, Mattingly.
Harper/Nats are gonna smoke that ass this year and absolutely get the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and last laugh.

You're 0-4 in playoff series, Harper.

Pop off when you win one.

Interesting article on Grandal’s offseason. Apparently he started studying the new launch angle fad to better call games behind the dish and got sucked in to making some changes to his own swing. Already one of the bigger power threats at the position, this should make for an interesting walk year for him. Still can’t swing at those pitches low and out of the zone, but maybe he’ll put a few more in the seats.

Blue Jays fans have long hoped that 2015 AL MVP Josh Donaldson would ink a long-term deal to remain with the club beyond the 2018 campaign, but the third baseman acknowledged to reporters today that he expects to reach free agency after initial extension talks didn’t prove fruitful (link via Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith).

“We’re not quite there,” said Donaldson. “…not at the same type of area, the same ballpark.” Donaldson added that an extension is not a “major focus” for him at this time and said he’s “turning the page” on the matter and shifting his focus to the 2018 season.

I don't think he did pop off ...... It was just a comment of how competitive the Marlins could have been and how close they were to having a championship team.

I agree with Harper. Donnie's nose is so brown I can smell him in the Carolinians.....:shit:

Some " real interest " now between Arrieta and Philly
Would be in line with their Santana signing..as in not making much sense, forking over draft compensation

ehh, if his swing brings results similar to what we have seen around the league, the Dodgers will be damn happy to have him. Not to mention that a bounceback year should net the club some nice draft pick compensation in an offseason where they likely could lose some as well. I like the things he said in the article, but saying and doing are two very different things.

Seems like a weird match. Definitely not playing for this season, but it could be interesting in a year or two if Nola take another step forward since it would give them two frontline starters and a likely solid offense.
