Hopefully, Yasmani plays nice. He should in his walk year, but things can turn sour fast in walk years as well
The catcher having lame duck status is far from ideal

They better win it all in 2019, otherwise, at the rate Arrieta's innings are decreasing..it's just not going make much sense.
I don't think anybody expects Arrieta to still be a frontline guy in year 3 of his next contract..well, maybe the Cubs did if they offered him a 6yr deal

A player like Harper just making comments or opining publicly is tantamount to a televised press conference...c'mon.. Alert the.media!
I'm sure no fan of DBB, never really have been, but I agree with him on this one..."keep it to yourself, Bryce, you fucking asshole. You don't get to criticize my team just because you're a good player". Wtf ? The mgr. is supposed to take a submissive posture to that, like Donnie or not? I call bullshit.
And Jeter probably appreciates his response to Harper a hundredfold.
Lol...illustrates just how tepid the Dodgers have been...so bad, we can't even make much ado about nothing, so we get into other team's shit.
    Sad, really...

TODAY: The Toronto front office evidently isn’t giving up its hopes of working something out. GM Ross Atkins tells Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca (Twitterlinks) that he believes the team has simply not “realized a deal yet” with Donaldson — suggesting the emphasis falls on the word “yet.”

Sure would be nice if he were traded at the deadline, receiving no qualifying option before next off-season.
Donaldson, without draft comp attached, could represent a ton of value on the right contract
Maybe he gets a 4 year deal, 5 tops

I am no Donnie fan either but the nerds or bros in their FO have a plan.
Previous owners dumped salary because they just wanted to pump money from the squad.
And btw if you have a low level market you kinda have to do drastic things to win.
Staying competitive is bullshit for them. They either need to win financially or win in the standings.
Just staying competitive is like staying afloat in the ocean against the tide.
Cool for a while but eventually, it wears you out and you sink to the depths of nothingness.
Even the previous owners we all shit on... they turned in lots of bad seasons but won lots of MONEY and a won a few RINGS.
So for their type of market the plan works.

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle discusses the winter of uncertainty with second baseman Joe Panik and a few other players. As for Panik, a phone call from GM Bobby Evans in the midst of the Giancarlo Stanton saga helped put his mind to ease, though he also notes that he and his wife would have been devastated to leave San Francisco and the Giants organization.

Devastated to leave a 98 loss last place team? This is obviously a tough guy that doesn't panic. Cute though.." devastated "

    Logan White was excellent.
He actually was soo good that it works against him. People just list the names of studs like its nothing if they dont become superstars or if they flame out.
What he did under Fox and McCourt reigns of terror was about the only thing that kept this team from being the Angels.
If some of that 'straw that broke the camelsback ranch' money and went to Logan Whites development crew some of these players would have been more successful.

The Angels were good during those years...

But yeah, I have nothing but love for Logan White.

Eric Hosmer helps the #Padres a few ways. 1B and LF were the two weakest positions in their system, now it’s not going to be a problem with Hosmer at 1B and Myers in LF.

You would think MFs don't even bother to watch these players play and just recognize the names
Wil Myers hasn't even cracked an .800 OPS since 2013
Fat Joc Pederson has had a better career than Myers thus far and we don't even know if Joc will be a starter for LAD..yet Myers is the Robin to Hosmer's Batman in SD Hahaha
There damn well is a problem there

    As for Batman..I mean Hosmer....

Eric Hosmer and Corey Dickerson are both 28-years-old. Since 2014, their WARs are 7.5 and 7.1 respectively. Today, one signed a $144M deal and one got DFA’d.

Willson Contreras on the new rule regarding mound visits -

"I don't even care," Contreras said Tuesday afternoon. "If I have to go (out there) again and pay the price for my team I will."

Contreras indicated he would be willing to pay a fine or deal with even harsher consequences -- though baseball is hoping it never gets that far. Speaking at a news conference later in the day, commissioner Rob Manfred and MLB chief officer Joe Torre said umpires will simply tell a catcher or other player to return to his position if their team has used up their six visits. If a catcher defies that order and gets into an argument with an umpire, then an ejection could be in order.

Contreras understands the consequences and is willing to accept them if need be.

"What about a tight game or an extra-inning game and you have to go out there?" he asked rhetorically. "They cannot say anything about that. That's my team. If they are going to fine me for mound visit No.7 I'll pay the price."

    Heh This should be good

How much time do they project will be saved per game by instituting these measures?
    5 minutes? 7 minutes?
    Big fucking deal...
And when they allow the ultimate bastardization of a NL DH, how much longer will the game then be, with sluggers hitting and prolonging innings instead of pitchers AB?
Too bad Teabag Joe Torre couldn't come up with some ideas about improving the putrid stench of the level of umpiring competence out there.

3 team trade coming down the pike
    Souza goes to AZ
    Drury to NYY
    Couple specs to Rays

Thought AZ would go to Tampa for Dickerson. Although, Dickerson is more proven than Souza with the bat, Souza has some thump and is way better defensively in the OF. Souza not really a plus defensive guy, but Dickerson is bad. Not JD Martinez bad defensively, but bad.
