?

If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Oh man... sounds like Hanley is in a lot of trouble. Some big report about him is supposed to drop shortly.

Yeesh, Zach Britton got absolutely lit up tonight by the Braves. .1 IP, 5 H and 4 ER... but hey, he didn't walk anyone! He has not been overly impressive since his return and word is that his velocity is down. Had only given up 1 hit before tonight, but also 4 walks. He is someone the Dodgers have been consistently linked to, but at this pace, the asking price is going to have to be dropped pretty substantially.

To get a guy whose best days are behind him? Not saying he can't be nails again
(a la Jansen, sort of), but this would be typical of recent LAD moves. Fits right in.
I have to think the FO takes shots on arms, principally based on the main reason that Honeycutt is the pitching coach. His ability has been proven many times over, so they give it a shot. Seems mostly worth it.
Unless they have reached unfixable suckitude.

It sure sounds like a lot of people on here are going to be hyperdisappointed if the Dbacks get Machado...a knife in LA's heart for sure.
Not only will it be a sack hit to the many Manny DSP lineups, it would in real life, be crushing to our chances in the post.
Imo, if that should happen, and we don't counter with a major acquisition, or two ( which might be the only way to equalize an AZ/Machado deal), then the LAD will be waving the white flag.
    Unconditional surrender.

There is an expectation among other teams that the Diamondbacks will be among the most
aggressive in the trade market, because 2018 presents perhaps their best opportunity for the
foreseeable future to win the NL West. They could be the Machado frontrunners.

    It's like, uh...a joke.
In the end, though, I think they should be shot. Should we go another season as losers...definitely.
Or at least be given a "Glasgow Smile"...

I really don't want Machado on AZ.....they already took Greinke from us. MGT better figure out how to trade Forsythe and Grandal to free up the cash needed to get Manny.

tbh i fully expect mgmt to pass on manny/bryce... for now
imo they should, and hopefully will, address areas of more immediate need at the deadline
machado (and harper) would/will help any offense
but (again just my opinion) i believe a mid-/back-end starter and pen help would aid us better in the short-term
i just don't see our mgmt -- who has strayed from huge/1 man commitments -- to pursue a machado or harper
and i don't think they'd be willing to trade away the talent/prospects req'd to acquire either
even if az gets manny it'll be jd martinez 2.0... one (half season) and done
then again, wtf do i know?...
i'm just some knucklehead posting my thoughts
but i am what i am...

She’s messed up from what I hear. She’s in some kind of psychotic state.

I agree, MGT will probably pass on Machado.....i just don't like it. This team seems more fragile than the one that choked last year. I think a reliable bat to go along with the current mashers would go a long way to easing the team psyche, and strike fear in the rest of MLB. At some point MGT is going to need to shell out the $$$$ to someone. Kershaw/Machdo/Trout......someone. And on a smaller note there is some president as they did shell out the cash for Jansen.....which I believe is the highest paid reliever. How long is Taylor and Turner going to stay healthy. How long before Joc and Max revert to their previous selves. It just seems like this team is held together with band-aids and shoestrings.

Management is dead set on staying below $197M. They will not take a chance on blowing that, so Manny is a non-starter this year.
