That Camello guy is saying the Dodgers have zeroed in on Blake Treinen. He’s not the first to say this in the past couple of days. The A’s prefer to make moves well before the deadline, so I wonder what kinda traction there could be. IMO, Treinen is a nice start, but not the whole package. They need to find a way to have a better than the Nats 2017 deadline and land 2-3 back-end arms. There are some decent arms in the pen, but besides Jansen and Alexander, there’s nothing you can trust back there in the bigger moments.

It’s asking a lot, but pairing Treinen with Raisel Iglesias would be great... adding JT Realmuto on top of that would be damn near perfect.

I said DECENT. I actually have been really impressed by Alexander lately. He has given up some severely bullshit hits and runs since rejoining the club after finding his release point. I like him in particular in that in this new age of the game, it is getting harder to string along multiple hits to put a rally together unless you can get the ball in the air. His sinker makes that incredibly tough for guys and we have seen it at work in recent weeks. Honestly when he is in trouble, but there is a runner on first, I'm not worrying like I would with most other guys. His problems currently lie in that our infield defense has taken a dramatic step back since last year(the Muncy effect, plus Seager was...good...at SS?) and he still tends to lose the strike zone. So yes, a bullpen where you have to beat Treinen, Iglesias, Jansen, Alexander, plus a Wood and Maeda is the game shortening group that can win you some games in the post season.
