If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

So LAD is considered " the favorite " for Machado
Only problem is it was reported by Nightenfail

Don’t buy it for a second. After almost sacrificing this season by not going after pitching to stay under $197M, why would the FO blow past that and give up prospects at the same time?

Sure the D-Bags getting him will hurt, but the FO just haven’t given any indication other than they are waiting for this upcoming off season to start dealing.

I think he thought Deng would be a good parking lot attendant.

They probably won't even spend then, either. Honestly believe that.
Can't see them backing up the truck for Kershaw, Harper/Machado etc

Only if Starscream comes along too. Can't have one without the other.

Its totally doable and staying under the lux limit. If MGT traded away Grandal and Forsythe that would free up $3.95MM and $4.5MM. Manny is due about $8MM for the remainder of this year. Yes we loose Grandal's bat but Manny more than makes up for it. Forsythe sucks so not worried there. Plus MGT can install Muncy/Kiki there till next year when they slide Manny or Seager over. Id be fine running with Barnes and Farmer behind the plate.

Even if Barnes was hitting well, I wouldn't be comfortable handing him the keys behind the plate. Noodle arm and can't handle the day to day of it, from what I've read.

Eh, he took the job from Grandal when it counted most last year. I think is a mental thing that can be resolved by time behind the plate.

That is a distinct possibility. But these guys would be burning any trust they have with the family base. Trying to stay below $197M to save money with this current team says to me the "win now and win later" rhetoric has turned into "win later when the rooks mature."

I know shocker. The Sun does rise in the East afterall.

    Do It Mitch!

    CF: Joc/Taylor
    SS: Machado
    3B: Turner
    LF: Kemp
    1B: Bellinger
    2B: Muncy
    RF: Puig/Kike
    C : Grandal/Barnes

    That lineup wins it.
With Seager in for Muncy next year.
This lineup will be tremendous next year and again set up for depth in case one of our major players gets injured.
How good is the lineup that Muncy and Taylor would be utility players?

    SS: Machado
    2B: Seager
    LF: Kemp
    1B: Bellinger
    3B: Turner/Muncy
    CF: Joc/Taylor
    RF: Puig/Kike
    C : Grandal/Farmer

Machado is much more attainable under the tax now as I outlined a couple weeks ago. The injuries to Koehler, Ryu, Maeda and Kershaw has freed up an extra few $M’s. Asking a team to cover $1-2M left on a contract is way easier than asking for $4-5M. Not to mention, tossing in a slightly better prospect for good relievers to cover their contract isn’t the type of thing that would break this system. The thing is...
    A. It’s fucking Nightengale and the piece screamed of desperation to me. I couldn’t decide whether it was the O’s trying to get the Dodgers to come to the table, or the O’s using the Dodgers name to get other teams to up their offers for Machado(something FO’s will agree to do). If it’s the latter, it could be since the two are involved in negotiations for a reliever or two.
    B. If the Dodgers really are in on Machado, my guess is it is not going to be a one year marriage. They only bring him on with a goal of wooing him to stay.

    MLBTR chat....
Question: What would it take to get Manny?
Jason Martinez 5:08 How about 3 of the following ... SP Mitchell White, SP Dustin May, OF Alex Verdugo, SS Gavin Lux, OF Jeren Kendall, OF Yusniel Diaz, and another MLB-ready starting pitcher (Caleb Ferguson or Brock Stewart).

LOL.....I would give up May/Diaz/Luz/Stewart in a HEARTBEAT.

I wish it was that simple.

What report are you referring to?

I'd rather have Machado than Harper long term, so that'd be exciting.
Not as flashy as Bryce... lower ceiling. But a safer bet to stay healthy and plays a premium position with great success.

Nightingale came out with a report today saying that according to his sources within the O’s organization, the Dodgers are the favorite to land Machado. The scouting department has been told to concentrate on the Dodgers farm system.

    Nightenfail? Machado to Arizona confirmed.

PLOT TWIST: Machado gets pulled over in Arizona without his visa and is deported. Maxine Waters picks him up in Tijuana and drives him to Dodger Stadium. Mark Walter declares Chavez Ravine a Sanctuary Stadium and signs Machado under the table. Dodgers win the WS.

Fast forward to December. Jerry Brown, on his way out the door, approves full citizenship and tax payer funds to pay for Machado's 20 year/$2 billion extension, with 150 games per season of paid vacation. California goes bankrupt. Cody Bellinger is elected interim Governor after all the upheaval. Belli really goes to bat for the state of California....and strikes out.

    The end

Treinen + Jed Lowrie, ship off Forsythe, find a random lefty reliever that's struggling that they turn good sounds like a great deadline to me
