all he's known is Baltimore so i hope he's blown away by the bright lights big city
Seager can play third and JT to second

If their is one thing that won't happen, it's this, 2+ months from free agency gonna get $300M+, no reason to sign now.

Exciting? Yes certainly, but take a good long hard look at the guys reporting the deal is done. One is notorious for being wrong often, the other I am done trusting. Camillo nailed a couple FA signings two years ago, but he was a mess this offseason. He had the club agreeing to multiple deals that never came close to being on the radar of other writers. Heyman, Rosenthal and Morosi are all saying that the teams are close, but the Brewers and Phillies are still talking. DO NOT count a Orioles deal to be done until the player is in his new uniform.

Worst owner, maybe in all of sports, could definitely wake up tomorrow and want Bellinger. But I'd be shocked if a Machado trade came with an extension. Players' association would be pissed. They want Machado hitting the market and jacking up the price for top SS as well

May have to call Magic in to close the deal. Magic and Angelos Lol two guys that couldn't be further apart. I don't know who wins that one..that's like Superman VS Doomsday

This FO does not trade for guys that they don't plan on attempting to re-sign after the season is over. Reddick was acquired with full intention of getting an extension, then he blew large gangly ball sacks and the team had no choice but to let him walk. Darvish was in the long term plans, but we all know how that went(also, umm anyone notice how this has worked out?), but they were in on him until the end as they tried making moves to free up room to get him. I fully believe that the plan is to re-sign Manny and likely move some pieces in 2019 to restock a farm that is already having a fantastic year. Don't forget, Seager is having Tommy John surgery, there is nothing set in stone to believe he will be capable of playing on the left side of the diamond ever again.
    2019 w/Manny and Seager back
    C Barnes/Farmer
    1B Muncy/Turner/Seager/Bellinger
    2B Muncy/Turner/Taylor
    3B Turner/Seager
    SS Manny
OF Kemp/Bellinger/Taylor/Puig/Toles/Pederson/Verdugo.... yeah someone is going to have to be traded from this group.

The versatility in the IF makes re-signing Manny not all that tough. THE biggest issue is who is agent is and who else he represents.... Broas covers Manny, Seager and Bellinger. Each guy's future could impact the other.

Definitely. One reason to know that Manny won't come in demanding to play Seager's spot, there will be client/client respect there, at least publicly. But yeah that's pretty crazy..at the end of the day, perhaps, Manny coming in solidifies Seager's move to 1B, which then moves Bellinger to the OF somewhere..probably CF

Justin Turner isn't playing second. I don't know if you have seen it this year, but he has become slow and his range is now ass. His d metrics have taken a hit. If he moves anywhere it is first, he is still good at picking it at third

Fat Joc seemingly has O's written all over him. He'd probably go bonkers in that ballpark and throw up a 40 spot HR wise, have himself a couple Brady Anderson years and then be traded again

I’m dying to get him at this point, but I’m conflicted about the extension. On the one hand he’s a rock-solid star and probably will be at or near that level for close to 10 years; on the other I don’t think he’s what you could call a “generational talent” and I think the contract bubble will recede at some point. Plus our capacity for development is so strong and proven enough that I think the more rational move is staying out of the frenzied bidding wars for guys. But it sure would be nice to have the hot corner set in stone for a while. :2cents:

All BS aside, Turner really should be moving back to Baltimore. He came out of nowhere and gave us thrills, got paid and saved his career, but it's looking like time's up. If it truly is, shouldn't be a shock, not at his age. If the O's wanna take that salary..gotta accept that blessing. Won't happen though

If Bellinger can't put up his massive numbers from his rookie year then moving him to CF makes his offense a lot more palatable.
All those HR coming from CF is nice, even if he only hits .250.

    1B: Muncy
    2B: Seager
    SS: Machado
    LF: Kemp
    3B: Turner
    CF: Bellinger
    RF: Puig
    C : Catchers

If Puig and Kemp are gone in two years they can be replaced by Joc and Toles or any other young prospect ready at the time.

Manny Machado just stopped by, and he said he’s seeing the reports of Dodgers and thinks/assumes they’re right (tho he said he doesn’t know for sure). The Miami product who’s been an Orioles his whole career said: “It’ll be different. But different can be good.”
    --------------------
FWIW, you'd think his agent would kept in the loop, but it is the O's, so theirs no telling.

At the same time, I don't really know that Machado should be up for talking about that publicly until it's done

I still don’t know how this or other moves will work under the $197M threshold. Looks like we’re losing more than prospects.

Also wouldn’t doing an extension also blow the cap reset for this year?

wasn’t on the “get machado” bus initially
but i eventually warmed to the idea and jumped aboard
especially since there (evidently) aren’t any marquee arms available

Manny contract is prorated to in the 6 million range I read but now cannot find. Sending Logan would off-set. Manny is going FA make no mistake.

Watching the red carpet show and Nolan was just on and they were talking third basemen and Hamsinger brought up the rumored trade of Manny to us. He said don't say that.
