F.O. is one of the best in the game.
But their FA signings have been horrid.
They cannot decide whether to go full-on bargain bin or mega contract. What they get is in-betweeners who add up to a shit ton of money and routinely get outperformed by prospects.

Surprising things you may not know: Since 2016 only CC Sabathia has a lower hard hit ball rate allowed than Kenta Maeda.

He's also the only player since 2016 to be more diabetic than Bartolo Colon.

Every time they put a list together of guys they want to sign they should just throw that shit out immediately. Used car salesmen are kicking their ass unmercifully.

Pollock is currently in surgery according to Ken Gurnick. On the surface, this is really bad as it involves something he has had surgically repaired twice already. I would not be shocked if this is something that ends his season, but that is all personal feeling and nothing close to what has been reported.

With Pollock on the shelf, my ideal outfield configuration would be Joc/Kike platoon LF , Cody CF, Verdugo RF.

While Kike's numbers probably make him a top 5-7 2B in MLB, I can't help but feel tempted to shift him into a platoon role in LF with Joc and have him second on the depth chart at several positions, including 2B and SS.

That way 2B becomes a position we can fill with a right-handed contact bat to replace Pollock. Do you think the Dodgers have the desire or assets to grab Witt Merrifield from the Royals? He doesn't walk a ton, but maintains a good OBP, only strikes out 15% of the time, and hits for average. Slugged .483 last season, too, along with speed and defense.

I know it's only May and we're doing fine, but like Verdugo, Merrifield seems like he'd add another dimension to the offense.

Dodgers aren't giving us much yet.
I've been rooting for a way to get Pollock out of the lineup but that would be awful.
    Hope it's nothing that severe.

No shot at Merrifield. He just signed an extension this summer and it sounds like they want to make him a cornerstone piece of the franchise. I would not move Hernandez off of second just yet as the dude is on pace for around a 5 WAR season. Hard to ask for much more than that. If they do decide to move on from him, they probably look internally at Lux or even Estevez if he continues to rake this summer unless someone truly special becomes available at the deadline. If anything, the club may need to address to the catching position, that and Seager getting right should make "hiding" Hernandez in the 7th/8 hole pretty palpable.

Said it in my previous post. Kike's current numbers (and 2018) make him a top 5-7 2B, easily. I would only move Kike to facilitate more net wins. I'll take a 118-124 wRC+ at 2B all day. Wasn't an anti-Kike post. I figure with 450-500 PA Kike is still a 4-win guy. A natural platoon partner in LF with plenty of starts elsewhere in the infield. If you could add Merrifield (we can't), we'd be sacrificing perhaps 1 WAR with Kike but netting more wins overall.

I will be honest, though...While Kike has worked really hard to become a better player and is most likely legit, there's also the negative in me that knows the depths of his production and his streakiness (67 Wrc+ 2016, 92 wRC+ 2017). So I'm not "all-in" yet. I will be if he's still doing this in September.

Bummed about the extension, though. Saw he was already 30 and the Royals were in last place ...was hoping they'd sell off some pieces.

We've done well on deadline trades for the most part but can never seem to get anyone of significance from fire sales in the off season (screw the Marlins).

I honestly think it would be easier to find a platoon partner for Joc in the OF than getting an improvement at 2B without it costing big. The position is just not all that valuable right now and crazy enough, Hernandez is currently ranked #4 at the position. The guys that would be improvements would be incredibly expensive while platoon OF'ers are not... also if Verdugo just takes off like crazy, you could do a Pederson/Pollock platoon if the injury is not overly severe.

The need for an electronic strike zone is becoming more and more obvious.
It is said that the " umps want to get it right". Well if that's true, then it needs to happen.
With just the first month in the books so far, this the worst umpiring I have ever seen consistently, to date.
    These guys fucking suck.
No other way to describe it.
