Belly wins NL Player of the Month, as he should have. I'm happy for him, but the gloom from losing 2 of 3 to the shitty Gnats overshadows any positive feelings I may have for his accomplishment.

It was a dumb fucking signing to begin with. He should have gotten 3 years max with his injury history and with what we already had. If someone wanted to beat it, fucking let them. I'm hardly ever critical of the FO, but this was their second consecutive absolutely putrid offseason in a row. Just threw money down the toilet at a guy who dominated us the first quarter of the season and then he was terrible/mediocre, much like the rest of his career and a guy that had a great WS against us when we had no business being in the WS in the first place. We could have gotten one of the best relievers in the games history for less than what it cost us to get Kelly and Pollock, so that really pisses me off.

I will add that the Reds trade seems to have worked out fairly well. Everyone in that deal has been terrible to awful and two of them are hurt for a long while. I think the FO banked on Puig pressing so that he could get the big contract. Good call on that one.

Agree, except the Puig instead of Pollock is at bare minimum, a wash. And a lot less expensive. I prefer Puig personally, given Polly's over rated offense and his defense doesn't come anywhere near Puig's, with the naked eye anyway.
His leather sucks, and is a liability in CF, imo, on most anything he's got to go back on.
His injury history is a screaming red flag, but not to our " clever" FO. Again. Love those injured guys.
So, the others in the trade not withstanding, they could have just left Puig out there and platooned him with whoever, and saved 55 M, surgery, and the flaccid weight of a 200 lb. albatross around their jerkoff necks, possibly four 4 loooong years.
However, I do recognize that from the Reds point of view, no Puig- no deal, I would think.

Agreed, what an idiot. The only one struggling worse than Taylor is Roberts. How hard is it to see the guy is toast? But instead of sending him down where he could possibly get some help, just keep throwing him out there and destroying what little confidence he has left. Brilliant.

taylor looks like baez a couple years back...
absolutely does not want to be out there, zero confidence and so afraid to fail he's doomed before he steps in
send him down and bring up a lux or rios... or whomever
and taylor's "versatility" is moot if he can't hit his own anemic weight
speaking of which, enough of the dairy free vegan bullshit corey
you look like rick ocasek of the cars
eat a cheeseburger, have a beer and go get laid

I don't think Lux is an option at this point, as he is mostly playing shortstop...and pretty poorly from what I've heard. Although I'd love to see him up here.

It has been clearly obvious how the FUCKTARDs M.O. is to run their latest "Brilliant" trade and signing choices out there to fail past their sell by dates much more than the older ones or the ones who they inherited from Ned. Hubris.

    I will say this...
Their brilliant trades have actually been mostly, well, brilliant.

Kemp for Grandal freed up a spot in CF for a young, emerging Pederson and solved our catching problem (yes, Grandal was a streaky bkitch, but he was netting us 2-4 wins per year).
Dumping Olivera (and his money) in exchange for Alex Wood and Jose Peraza was a great deal. They let each go at the appropriate time, even getting interesting pieces in return.
Failed prospect Zach Lee for Taylor, who accumulated an 8 WAR in 2017-2018.
Dee Gordon turned into Kike Hernandez, a year of Howie Kendrick, and Austin Barnes.
They acquired Manny Machado and Yu Darvish for scraps. Neither player was great, but that's on them.

Ultimately, the players (especially Clayton Kershaw and Kenley Jansen) failed this organization. We should be sitting on at least 1 WS right now.

I think you do have a point that the F.O. has a tendency to stick with their guys past their expiration date and actually inherited most of our best players from the previous regime.

My biggest problem with this F.O. is their lukewarm approach to free agency. They spend tons of money on mediocrity.

even if he were to turn things around and return to 2017 form...

Appealing to the ultra intellectual I guess...
But to the rest of the IQ nabobs, this is like saying she has 11 children by five different men because she allows many varied penises to ejaculate in her vagina.
    Duh.

Giants part ways with Gerardo Parra
by Joe Kay | The Associated Press — 17 hours ago

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Outfielder Gerardo Parra's disappointing April prompted the San Francisco Giants to replace him with a player who's been hot in the minors.

The Giants designated Parra for assignment on Friday before the start of a series against the Reds. Mike Gerber was called up to take is spot in a lineup that's struggling to hit.

''We'll miss him, but it was time to give Gerber a look,'' manager Bruce Bochy said. ''He's going to be in the big leagues somewhere because he can impact a game defensively.

''It's tough to say goodbye to a really good guy and player with Parra. I consider myself fortunate to get a chance to know him.''

The 31-year-old Parra signed a minor league deal on Feb. 12 that included a $1.75 million salary when he made the Giants. Parra struggled in 30 games, batting .198 with one homer and six RBIs. The Giants batted only .231 in their last 10 games.

San Francisco claimed the 26-year-old Gerber off waivers from Detroit last December. He was batting .357 with six homers and 15 RBIs at Triple-A Sacramento.

The Giants also put catcher Erik Kratz on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring and recalled right-hander Tyler Beede to start against the Reds on Friday. Kratz aggravated the hamstring last month but has continued playing.

    Seager, on his offensive struggles...
“I’m searching a little bit, trying to find it a little bit, but I’m not far. I’m missing a few little things and I’ll feel a lot better.”
