    • Heavy interest in Yasmani Grandal already, he is expected to sign fairly soon. Does not sounds like he will be accepting the QO.
    • Growing belief is that Ryu will probably take the QO and the feeling is that the Dodgers would be just fine with that. A couple of unexpected sellers have entered the market (Indians and Mariners) adding more to the group of available pitchers.
    • Nightengale came out with a piece tonight and said that basically every team in baseball is not interested in Bryce Harper except for the Phillies. I only glanced at the article and admittedly passed on it since it is Nightengale and he's fucking terrible at what he does.
    • Other sources today have said the Dodgers have checked in on Kluber and Harper, while also showing stronger than anticipated interest in the Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto. The only thing is that something I speculated before was brought up, the Dodgers and Marlins FO do not see eye to eye and the two being able to put together a deal seems somewhat slim. Apparently the Dodgers are still ticked about coming in second 3 times last year to their OF deals.

So, are we in limbo now that we have lost the boy genius, or what?
And...seriously, can we roll without a GM, since essentially, Andy boy (broccoli rabe) functions pretty much as a GM anyway.
And if we are.going for a hire, who would the candidates be ?
And any truth to the rumours that the SF move on FZ had gay aspects involved ?
I can envision the orange and black feather boas being tossed over shoulders right now...

Makes the Kershaw signing even worse, wasting 31MM a year on somebody who isn't gonna help the team win.

Bryce Harper rumors: Dodgers offered Yasiel Puig to Nationals in an August waiver trade
The Nationals pulled Harper back on trade waivers after the two sides couldn't work out a deal

....And now, thanks to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times, we know what the Dodgers offered the Nationals during Harper trade talks in August. Their offer: Yasiel Puig. From Castillo:

The Dodgers also don't have a glaring need for an outfielder — their crowded depth chart includes Yasiel Puig,
Joc Pederson, Cody Bellinger,Matt Kemp, Enrique Hernandez and Chris Taylor — but that didn't stop them from expressing interest in acquiring Harper before the nonwaiver trade deadline in July and again in August when they claimed him off waivers before the waiver trade deadline. The Dodgers offered Puig in a trade, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, but the two sides could not strike a deal.

Just give Puig the Kersh nostalgia contract already.

To date, so far, the "exciting LAD offseason" is going over like a lead balloon.
And, immaturity aside, I had no idea Zaidi looks so much like Buddha with ugly glasses. Wow.
I guess highly paid, genius, blobfish-looking nerds look that way.

I'm gonna call bullshit on that, make that postseason claim if you want, but he was 14th in FIP (minimum 160 innings) that's still very good, if not elite.

He's just not Sandy reincarnated anymore.

Postseason is what I was insinuating. We have proven that we do not need Kershaw to win in the regular season anyways.

He never was Sandy, gotta do it in the post and nobody shrinks smaller than Kershaw.

Yeah, miss me with all the reg-season statistical evidence in Kersh's case. What did we see down the stretch of the reg-season this time around? Fluff over Kersh's " career WHIP " and the team's winning streak on days he starts..and for what at the end of the day? Same ol shit.

That's the Giants' secret to their run to three WS titles..just don't employ Kershaw, and do employ Bumgarner. That's it. That's how they just get it done.

Nobody pays a player assuming he will deliver in October, if they do, it's a bonus. Point is he has been a major contributor in getting them there now 6 times in a row (3 NLCS appearances, 2 World Series). Go ask half of the fan bases around baseball, they would kill for what we've had the last 6 years. (could see it extended to a 7th depending on what AZ and COL do with their stars)

Staying under can mean a lot of things. Harper/Machado are the only names out there that will command anything that gets us close to the top. There's more trades, pickups and other FA's that can be obtained without going over.

If that means they won't try on Harper, then yeah, it's BS. But it's not the end of the world to hear that.

True. The market looks to be flush with relievers looking for bounce back 1 year deals, theirs always the out left field trade.

And who knows if what the article states is even true, we'll have to wait and see.

They can drastically improve the team and still stay under $205 million I agree, the point is that it’s fucking bullshit to the fans to complain about a couple million dollars with the revenue they have.

Being so strict about staying under the cap this year makes no sense if we were planning on staying under for multiple years.

This sounds fake. 1) why would the Nats even want Puig in that trade? 2) no one else with a worse record put in a claim?

The Harper side of it is actually old news. It's been out there since the deadline that LAD claimed Harper. As for the Puig side, Puig is headlining here, but if this ever had any true momentum I'd imagine more pieces going to DC as well. But they have a solid outlook and Puig could've helped them now and again even if only for one year. Although, with the way they spend DC would maybe have a solid shot at keeping him if they wanted, definitely give him a QO and get draft comp at the least when Puig pulls in his 60-70MM in FA after next season
