Dodgers at $195M in projected salary in terms of AAV with the return of Ryu.

    Dodgers FA's after 2019 AAV
    Kemp 20M
    Ryu 17.9M
    Hill 16M
    Puig 12.5M (Projected)
    Wood 9.5M (Projected)
    Freese 4.5M
Kemp 3.5M (Money they are paying the Padres)
    Cingrani 2.6M (Projected)
    Fields 2.5M (Projected)
    Koehler 2.5M (Projected)

That is a ton of money coming off the books in 2019 and most if not all of those guys are replaceable based on the status of our farm outlook for the 2020 season

dodgers top priorities appear to be bullpen (back-end help for Jansen would be
preferable) and catcher (though grandal may not be so likely since they may prefer
short term guy with great catching prospects ruiz & smith on horizon)

In a not shocking turn of events, Grandal has rejected the Dodgers QO

Realmuto and a closer quality RP wouldn’t be Harper but it’d be a B+ offseason I guess

So if what I read is correct... the Dodgers will be getting a higher pick for Grandal than the Nats will be getting for Harper. I saw he was a 4th round pick equivalent which just shows how shortsighted that ownership is. They nixed a 1 for 1(maybe even more) that would have gotten them a whole extra year of Puig and I would not be shocked if his QO pick a year from now was higher than Harper's.

i know joe kelly had a pretty pedestrian regular season
but hard to get out of my mind's eye how dominant he was against us in the post
then again, it was against us so...

NO MORE GRANDMAL? Well needless to say we'll miss him during the regular season. Hard bat to replace.

If they don't land Realmuto, it is going to be nearly impossible for this team to replicate what it has gotten out of the catching position the last few years. Only other thing that could happen is Barnes turning back into his 2017 self. Honestly though, with Grandal being unusable in the playoffs, it was necessary to move on and take flyers on someone else. Grandal is a really damn good player and the position league wide is in flux, but the fact that he's attached to an asterisk since you lose your most important position on the field at the most important time of the season, meant that this org can't afford to have him on the roster. I would have taken him back on a 1 yr filler deal, but that was hoping more that he would come out and try to prove the world wrong.

That’s 91.5 million or so. Can spend this year and get back under next. Seems simple enough

More than likely more than a just a 1 for 1 Puig/Harper swap, but the point remains. Nats should've been willing to do that, but as we've found out here recently they were still going to make a hail mary offer to Harper and hope he just takes it

Then would most likely result in the usual "incomplete" in October, just like the previous three decades...

Not only that, the other 3 major sports franchises have done exactly that with their signings and the Dodgers are the flagship franchise of LA.

With Ryu officially accepting the QO, they have as many as 11 starting options for 2019

    Kershaw
    Hill
    Maeda
    Ryu
    Wood
    Stripling
    Buehler
Stewart (though he could be cut from the 40-man to make for the Rule 5 guys)
    Urias
Ferguson (I expect him to return to the bullpen unless they get another LH reliever)
    Santana (health pending)
