But that move helped us stay under the cap. Which was important because we plan to spend so much this year...

a lot of truth to this
and imo why they passed on kapler (and others)
they didn't want someone strong, with their own thoughts and/or who was set in their ways
they wanted someone so desperate and grateful just to have the job that they'd do whatever they were told
maybe roberts has grown tired of being a lap dog
if so, probably even more bitter after cora's extension
if roberts walks, no chance they hire a showalter or kennedy type
nope, probably just the next good soldier in line
not saying we need a yeller or screamer [homo], but you need someone unafraid to administer discipline -- someone the players both respect and fear
tommy had that, and walt alston most definitely did
but it's a new age... at least that's what i'm told

Andrew stated that " Dave is managing gold"..
    Indeed.
    Why?
Because gold is the most maleable of all metals, of course.
Seriously, I wonder if the exit of FZ actually changes the communication dynamic between the FO and Davey Robots ?

    per yahoo sports
    meh...
    • The Mariners are "re-imagining" their roster for 2019 and shopping ace pitcher James Paxton. The team is reportedly speaking to the Yankees and Astros about a trade involving Paxton, which appears to be imminent. (TJ Cotterill, The News Tribune)
    • Buster Olney explores possible trade options the Giants have with ace Madison Bumgarner. (Buster Olney, ESPN)
    • The White Sox are actively trying to trade outfielder Avisail Garcia and could possibly non-tender him if he doesn't get traded. (Mark Feinsand, MLB.com)
    • The Dodgers could be making a play for catcher J.T. Realmuto after Yasmani Grandal declined the $17.9 million qualifying offer, (Peter Gammons, MLB Network)
    • Astros assistant general manager Mike Elias will be named the new general manager of the Baltimore Orioles. (Bob Nightengale, USA Today)
    • Mariners third base coach Scott Brosius won’t be returning to the organization next season. (Ryan Divish, Seattle Times)

    Verdugo
    May
Ruiz/Smith (I know SF has Joey Bart)

It might actually be feasible given the relationship that Farhan and Andrew have, if it wasn't the Giants, I can't see the two sides making a deal.

    • Since the Dodgers made a qualifying offer to catcher Yasmani Grandal, they will receive draft pick compensation after Competitive Balance Round B regardless of the amount Grandal signs for.

I was thinking about this, Friedman and Zaidi aren't going to take the rivalry much into consideration(unless this was a messy divorce), they will do whatever is best for their teams. If the two look at one another and see a trade that works, they will do it(aside from Bumgarner or Posey). I just don't know where the two teams will look to one another for help. Relief pitching is the only things that is on their roster that I see being an upgrade.

At this point I think it would be just peachy-keen-dandy to have a catcher who can, um, catch.......

Be it known now and in the future, whatever team Ya$ goes to, he will become a defensive wizard.
And another batting coach will modify his extended slumps, and he will be even better offensively.
    Word.
