Also, if you know he is going to test free agency and you're willing to pay up for him, then you can save your farm and just wait a year. Not to discount the value he could bring for 2020, but one year of Betts has a limit.

I know I'm the resident tin foil hat wearer in here when it comes to the Astros cheating scandal, but I'm also skeptical of trading the farm for a player connected to an Alex Cora team.

Are the Yankees interested in Stras? It seems like either way, if the Yankees and Angels are both in the market for a high-priced ace, it seems like Stras would get gobbled up by one of them.

Sweet Jiminy Christmas. Mouse's long arm of the law stretches all the way to Mookie Betts. Lol

Cora's been in Boston for 2 years, man.

Teams feel he’s leaning to staying with Washington so Cole is the big get this year. And both the Yanks and Angels are willing to write a blank check for eh guy.

The Dodgers are not going to get into a bidding war with the Angels or Yanks. As we kinda learned with Kershaw and much earlier with Kevin Brown, it’s not worth a long term, expensive risk, especially if Cole’s numbers are suspect.

But I would at least try to push hard for Strasberg. Between Rendon and Stras, I think pitching is the greater need, and Stras was great in the PS. Plus he’s a S.Cal guy. If the Dodgers match a Nats deal, I think he’s coming to LA. He’s got nothing more to prove in DC.

was just going to post something similar
but tbh i'd be apprehensive to sign ANY starter on a long term deal
too big a risk, too many bad things can happen
imo rendon should be priority 1
if he goes elsewhere, get donaldson
dellin betances would be a nice pen addition if his achilles is okay
pick up a rental starter at the deadline
buehler/urias/maeda/kershaw/may (gonsolin/strip) should be able to hold it down until then
    bye ryu, bye hill

p.s. i feel dirty suggesting this... but i wouldn't be opposed to madbum on a 1 year deal
problem is he's purportedly already been offered more (years), and whomever signs him loses a draft pick
could have signed hamels for 1 year for what the braves paid him

Heard Madbum is getting multi year deals in the low $100s. Hard pass. Let the Braves deal with him.

Andrew Porter has reported that the Phillies are going "all in" on Rendon with Donaldson as a fall back plan. In a world of fake news, I believe this one.

    These are not unions.
    Unions are for laborers.
    Not players.

I just want to wake up to news one day that Dave Roberts has been arrested for multiple felonies and is put away for 20 years. That would make it a pretty decent off-season.

Gammons responding to a Heyman report about the Yankees full court press for Cole makes it sound like they have in fact landed him. “Jon is right. They were not denied. Dodgers, Angels will soon learn.”

His sources have dried up faster than his old, wrinkly skin, though. Take it with a grain of salt.
