More like I think that using kids as shields for peoples political whims is not ideal.
And whenever it's about the childrens it's usually bullshit and really about curbing civil liberties.
But it always starts with something like this.
Like when kids find a gun and shoot their neighbor and the next day it's all about banning guns... For the children.

    Don't take it to heart.

Heyman reporting that the Red Sox are looking more likely to trade Betts. Dodgers and Padres are the public links, but I’d expect that there are others.

After the cheating scandal, I’m getting nervous about the Red Sox sudden change of heart on Betts. That and our need to get some more clarity on our pitching situation.

Padres make no sense at all. 2020 probably isn’t their year, so why would they mortgage the future for a rental? Like the dodgers do, so do the Cardinals, and maybe a team like the Mets do too, but I can’t really think of many that really make sense

So you think it’s a red flag that the Red Sox are slashing prices right before their cheating investigation comes out?

Exactly. Apparently there are some in the Pads org that are not a fan of this move for the very reason that you mention. Would the Padres offense and bullpen be dangerous? You bet. Facing Machado, Tatis Jr, Betts and Pham in order would be tough, but the pieces around them aren’t there yet. I wonder if they are really sticking around to push up the price for the Dodgers.

I want nothing to do with Betts. Fuck him and that entire organization. Not a coincidence that the best year of his career by far was 2018.

For the same reason Boston acted like they were going to keep Betts. To drive UP the price.

I’m there with you. The Red Sox fucked us over just as much as the Astros did, I’m not sure why we don’t just give them the finger and say “have fun going over the luxury tax, bitches”. After reading the Astros report it was clear Alex Cora was huge in the sign-stealing scandal, so it would be surprising if the Sox weren’t doing everything the Astros were and more. Fuck Betts.

The Red Sox and Mookie Betts have reportedly exchanged contract numbers over the last year+ and the two sides are believed to be still at least $100M apart.

I think the change is that they realize that they can’t afford him.... or choose not to with their new FO. They have a couple rough looking contracts right now too, they could be gun shy in the event that Betts tanks.

Fuck off. Stop that pride shit. We won 2017, I wouldn’t even blink at a championship banner hung up at Dodger Stadium. That was our year, our moment. I hope those fuckers get eyeball cancer.

Kris Bryant loses grievance against Cubs
By Jeff Todd | MLB Trade Rumors — 24 minutes ago

The MLB arbitration panel has finally issued a ruling on the grievance brought by Cubs star Kris Bryant against the organization, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.com (via Twitter). Bryant will not be granted an additional year of service time, the panel ruled. He will remain under team control via arbitration through the 2021 season.

Bryant had claimed the Chicago organization manipulated the timing of his initial promotion in order to delay his qualification for free agency. It was an argument with some obvious real-world merit, but one that faced major legal hurdles to success.

The expectation around the game all along was that Bryant would fail, but that couldn’t be known until the decision was formally reached. Now, the Cubs and Bryant have clarity regarding his future … as do other teams with potential interest in trading for the 28-year-old third baseman/outfielder.

It remains difficult to fathom the big-market Cubs parting with a classy, homegrown star who remains a high-quality performer. But there has been persistent chatter surrounding the possibility as the organization looks for creative means of improving. The Cubs reputedly have minimal financial wiggle room owing to a self-imposed pincer of payroll limitations and prior payroll commitments (some underperforming).

    More to come …
