    • One NL executive believes the Chicago White Sox will indeed trade both Luis Robert Jr and Garrett Crochet, saying Crochet to the Los Angeles Dodgers feels inevitable. — Jesse Rogers/ESPN
    translation…
he’ll go elsewhere or, more likely, he won’t be traded

The kiss of death. See you in '25 Miggy.

Rojas’ placement on the injured list was also no surprise, after he was removed early from Sunday’s game with discomfort in his forearm.

While the team was initially optimistic that Rojas could avoid an IL stint, manager Dave Roberts said a medical scan this week showed the strain in Rojas’ arm. His timeline to return is unclear, but Roberts didn’t make the injury sound serious.

“I think it’s something that he’ll be able to bounce back from,” Roberts said.

I was going to defend Friedman on this one.
I was going to say give it time.
I was going to use Brasier as an example who had ERAs of 5.78 and 7.29 the two seasons before we signed him.

But then I looked at Lyles career stats, and, well... how the hell is this guy still in the league?!? 13 seasons and yet not even one with an ERA below 4.00. This guy is the shittiest type of shit.

    Aaaah, Matty Roid Kemp.

I'll admit that those were fun days, too. Odd to think he wasn't already retired though. Figured he was done five years ago.

    Enjoy retirement, Bison.

one of three things will happen…
    • the padres will get him and he’ll become the next randy johnson
    • he’ll stay with the white sox
    • we get him, but he’ll need TJ surgery after one start

Crochet wants extension if traded; also to remain a starting pitcher
by Andrew Peters | Bleacher Report — 25 July 2024

Chicago White Sox star ace Garrett Crochet is seeking a contract extension in order to pitch in the postseason should he be traded before the deadline, per ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

Crochet, 25, also said he has "no desire" to move to the bullpen over starting, according to Rogers, and cited health concerns for his requests.

Crochet is under team control for two more seasons but wants some security before potentially pitching for a postseason contender in October.

Crochet's contract request comes amid a standout season, but one that has seen him pitch 111.1 innings, by far the most he has pitched since making his MLB debut in 2020. Even at the collegiate level, the former Tennessee star never pitched more than 65 innings.

Crochet began his MLB journey as a reliever, coming out of the bullpen in 2020 and 2021. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2022, he rejoined Chicago's bullpen late last season. Over the offseason, Crochet expressed interest in becoming a starter, and that move has paid off.

In 21 starts this year, Crochet has the second-most strikeouts in the majors with 157, also notching a 3.07 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. Those figures have led to plenty of interest ahead of the deadline, but his contract and rotation requests could be a deal breaker for contenders looking to bolster the bullpen.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported on Tuesday that the rebuilding Sox are "listening on everyone" ahead of the deadline, but given Crochet's level of play it will likely take an impressive offer for the team to send him elsewhere.

It was also reported Wednesday by The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal that "some in the industry expect" Chicago to hold Crochet at the deadline and instead move him this offseason.

I’ll never forget him getting an MVP stolen from him, came into the next season even better hitting 12 HRs in April then getting injured and screwing everything up

he had a solid career, but the injuries robbed him of a greater one

thought he deserved mvp even before braun got busted for juicing
but of course they chose to give it to someone on (then) commissioner selig’s former team

you know what fuck this guy
he has no right to start making demands about what he will or will not do for the team he's traded to
not the kind of character the Dodgers need and if he can't be happy playing for a winner then stay w the losers
sounds like he wants things the way he wants them out of lack of confidence

i saw an updated story but neglected to post it
evidently he said he preferred to remain a starter and would like an extension if he were traded to a contender
