Shame they didn't pass on Glasnow.

Pepiot is averaging 6.2 innings per start with a 3.11 ERA. Went 8 innings (gasp) last night.

Meanwhile Glasnow lingers on the IL with "body soreness."

Glassman has been such a disappointment, but to hear that about Pepiot literally adds insult to injury.

We should expect the trade of Busch to be similar to the trade of Paul Konerko, and the Pepiot trade ... dare I say Pedro Martinez? Or is there a better comparison?

Sure, I liked Casey too... but did you Carlos Santana-like him?

He wasn't going to play in front of Freddie or Max. In truth with the Dodgers he was a man without a position.

Dodgers got two of their top prospects (Hope and Ferris) for him. Let's see how they develop.

Too bad left field didn't stick for him. Imagine having his bat in the lineup in place of Conforto's.

Also, this is my fear for Rushing (that he's blocked). I think his potential is too great to remain a backup catcher -- and still maintain that it should be Feduccia in that role. And he's obviously not going to play first. Seems they've given up on him in LF. So what happens - does he eventually get traded? If so, I hope his value is not diminished from his part-time numbers on the Dodgers. He really could star for a team and if the Dodgers decide to move him, hopefully they don't accept less than good value in return.

I went down a rabbit hole this morning by reviewing the list of highest career WAR for years played as a Dodger. The top 24 are on baseball reference, and it starts with Kershaw at 79.6 and ends with Bob Welch at 32.9. There are a couple of dudes on there from the 19th century which is pre-modern era, so they probably shouldn’t count. Interestingly, Kersh and Justin Turner are the only two from the 21st century to make the list. Anyhow, I was thinking that Welch, while a decent pitcher and somewhat instrumental in the playoffs, seemed a little out of place on this list, which got me wondering who might be approaching to knock him off. And here they are:

Betts’ Dodgers WAR is 30.5 and he could very well pass Welch this year.

Smith is well on his way. He’s at 21.5 and assuming he stays with the team for the duration of his contract, he will not only make the list but likely pass Campy (35.7) as the top catcher.

Freeman is at 19.8. If he stays healthy for the remaining 2 ½ years of his contract, he should get there. Otherwise, he’d need an extension.

Ohtani amassed 9.2 last year and is at 3.6 YTD. Given the 10-year contract, he could be near the top of the list when all is said and done.

Muncy is at 25.7. Assuming Betts gets there, then Muncy would need 33.4 to get on the list, which would take another three years. Not likely.

And that’s it. Maybe in the future a Pages, Kim, Yamamoto, or Rushing may be threatening the bottom of the list, but they’ve got some work to do first.

that's provided Kim finds himself in the lineup ever again. contorto needs more ab's if he's going to make that list you know.
