Player most likely to help the Dodgers to a three-peat: Bo Bichette
BICHETTE CHECKS OFF ALL THE DODGERS’ NEEDS
    by David Schoenfield | ESPN — 24 Nov 2025
    • An upgrade at second base: Dodgers second basemen hit .239 and ranked 24th in the majors in OPS.

    • A high-average hitter (.294 career average): The offense hit just .233 in the postseason -- and .213 after the wild-card round. The Dodgers hit enough home runs, especially in key moments, to win the World Series, but it was the starting rotation that carried them to the title.

    • A hitter in his prime (age-28 season): The offense is getting older, with Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman now in the post-peak stage of their careers.
And the money? With a projected five-year, $130 million contract, Bichette easily fits into the Dodgers' payroll and still leaves them money to sign a closer.

The obvious question is what about Kim, but if you have a chance to sign Bichette you do it and figure out Kim later.

    Yes.
He is a fine back up and can spell Bichette very well. Which I think Bichette needs...not to be overplayed.
Kim has the ability to play other places, too.
I' d like to see it happen with Bo, really...but my feeling is, he'll not go to LA.

    talk about dodging a bullet
so grateful hollywood wasn’t his style
    • The Los Angeles Angels and third baseman Anthony Rendon are in talks about buying out the final year of his contract, potentially bringing a resolution to the seven-year, $245 million deal that did not come close to paying dividends for the team, a source told ESPN on Wednesday. Rendon, who spent the entire 2025 season recovering from hip surgery, is expected to retire, a source said.

Cease gets 7 years/210 million from Toronto.

I think that contract is going to age like milk.

Imo, he's a #3 guy at best and not somebody you can trust in a big game

    completely agree
solid middle of the rotation guy but a huge overpay imo
then again, other than valdez he was probably the best f/a starter available (hence the overpay)
will be interesting to see if they re-sign beiber and/or add anyone else
also curious to see what the rest of the nl east does, particularly nyy

now that the dodgers and the lakers are basically gonna be the same company maybe LeBron takes his talents to Chavez Ravine to live out his lifetime fantasy of being the backup 1B/LF for the Dodgers

    @BlakeHHarris
Another interesting *hypothetical* Dodgers trade -- this time a 3-teamer
    ~ Dodgers get: Jarren Duran
~ Red Sox get: Joe Ryan
~ Twins get: Zyhir Hope (LA No. 2 prospect), Jackson Ferris (LA No. 6 prospect), Chase Harlan (LA No. 18 prospect), Marcus Phillips (BOS No. 11 prospect)

    The argument for Bellinger:
Bellinger just had a strong 2025 campaign with the Yankees.
He hit 29 home runs while only striking out 13.7% of the time.
His .272/.334/.480 batting line translated to a wRC+ of 125.
He stole 13 bases and got strong defensive grades, playing all three outfield spots as well as first base.

    The argument against:
None of Bellinger’s 29 home runs went to the opposite field.
He had a .302/.365/.544 slash and 152 wRC+ when playing at Yankee Stadium with its short porch in right field, but only a .241/.301/.414 line and 97 wRC+ on the road.

Those road numbers would make him a no for me. Does anyone if he is even interested in a return to LA?

No on Bellinger for me as well.

Cannabis is legal in NY now so he'll stay there & probably pay lower taxes.

I'm with fsu on this one. Those road numbers are what we could expect from him - at best - if he came back. Not worth it. Not worth the money, not worth a longer contract which he would probably want. Not worth potentially blocking prospects towards the end of the year and into following seasons. He had three great years in LA, then a ho-hum one, and then finished with two ugly seasons. Thinking he's suddenly going to be great as a Dodger again is the wishful thinking of less knowledgeable fans. I want to keep that book closed, remembering him for his 47-HR MVP season and his 2020 theft of a Tatis playoff blast. I don't want to remember him for a mediocre end to his career.

Reliever Devin Williams and the New York Mets are in agreement on a three-year contract that guarantees more than $50 million, sources tell ESPN.

Yep. Hell... Charlie Blackmon played 14 years as a Rockie CFer. Earned over 140 million and still retired before he's 40, lives in a great neighborhood (Belcaro) which is the Malibu of Denver. Zero debt. No stress ... just millions to fall back on as you choose.

If you dgaf about winning, but you can play MLB, it's a solid early retirement plan.
