I'd love to see Stone at some point, but they're still building him up. Yesterday his 4 innings and 50-something pitches were his highs in four games so far.

Sheehan has gone 5.2 and 6 innings in his last two OKC starts, both shutouts with only 4 hits and 4 BBs allowed. He also struck out 17. How that translates to MLB hitters remains to be seen, but I'm sure he's next man up from that roster.

The chances of a Threepeat are very much in peril, my friends.

In general, the pitching is fine. Even Scott, with his consecutive painful losses... has come through more often than not. The issue is that this offense is very inefficient, and that's most evident at the top of the order plus Tucker (and Teo, despite yesterday). The pitching staff is being given no margin for error, and that's a reflection of how unproductive the offense is. I just glanced at MIL's score from yesterday. They won 8-1. How much of a breath of fresh air would eight runs be for our staff? It just doesn't happen anymore, other than once in a blue moon. Really, most of these guys are getting paid an absurd amount of money and simply are not holding up their end of the bargain at the plate. Ohtani batting late in a close game? Forgetaboutit. I honestly would have more faith in Miggy R, Tommy, or even Kike and Call (gasp) coming through there. But it's okay, he'll hit a 500-foot bomb tonight down 6-1 in the ninth after striking out with bases loaded in his previous at bat, and both the media and fanboys will eat it up. Freeman, now just a singles and occasional doubles hitter, has been slumping in RBI situations lately. Mookie hitting third is a joke. Tucker and Teo have been moved down in the lineup, deservedly so, but why does Mookie and his barely-700 OPS get that prime spot? Problem is (and this is where Roberts should've used his "what other options are there?" quote), there are too many underperformers to have a viable alternative. That said, it should be Edman hitting second and Freeman third. Late last year I made a post about how .300 should be the absolute bare minimum OBP for a hitter, and that Kike missed that mark. Well, right now Mookie's is .296. That's ATROCIOUS and should be nowhere near the top of the lineup. Between that and Shohei freezing up in clutch situations, no wonder why this team is struggling to even put up 4 or 5 runs per game. And you know what, while I'm ranting? Fuck Kyle Tucker!!! He was supposed to be a huge part of this offense. Getting paid 60 big ones and putting up a zero fWAR... wait, let me do the math. 60M divided by zero is... well, fuck, the result is "UNDEFINED" which is pretty much what Tucker's contribution has been this year. He should be ashamed and apologizing to the fans and teammates every day, and his priority should be to work hard and fix whatever is wrong. Have some pride man, for gods sake. His ineffectiveness has hamstrung this offense. Not him alone, obviously, but if he was producing in line with his career numbers, he'd be batting somewhere 2-4 and it would make the top of the order so much more effective. My theory is that he picked the Dodgers because he figured he could kick back and ride coattails. Well surprise, Kyle, it doesn't fuckin work like that! Man up and earn that money! And Teo, well everyone loves him and his dugout antics. The problem is, antics get old, and they're actually stupid if he's not producing and the team's not winning. Teo, have you checked the Dodgers record vs winning teams lately? Maybe forget about the sunflower seeds and work on not flailing at pitches out of the zone. Don't get me started about the manager. Is Roberts "relentlessly positive," or PERPETUALLY LAME? Gets the credit when the team wins, but where's his part when the team sucks? Do something Skip - you have some players that need motivating. Leave the book writing to the professionals, sit the underperformers if you have to, call up some recruits and maybe that will get them off their FUCKIN ASSES!

    Rant over. Podcast that, Betts.

Stone would be great but the pitching has been excellent. teams aren't going to lose many games if the Dodgers only score 1-3 runs a game.

The Dodgers lost the season series to the Brewers, 4-3.

The Dodgers lost the season series to the Braves, 5-1.

The Dodgers are just one game up on the Braves for the No. 2 seed. If they can't figure things out soon, they'll be playing in the wild-card round again this year.

doesn’t matter who, when or where they play… they’re getting eliminated in their first series

They just had to take 1 of 3 to be in a nice spot standings wise and had 100000 chances to win one of the first two and lost both

Reached the point where we are just rooting for them to not get swept vs the good teams and they can’t even do that

    Twins swept Atlanta last week
Brewers took 2 of 3 against them

    Great stuff

    @Howard_Cole
The Dodgers have three choices: promote from within, acquire men via waivers or continue trotting out undeserving players therefore putting that much more pressure on everyone else. Or, ya know, pray for the under-.500 teams to advance in October.

CBSSports weighs in on JDP ...

    https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-september-roster-expansions-prospects/

Mike Axisa (whoever that is) writes:

    Preseason rank: No. 12

How they got him: Although he was born in New York, De Paula spent his teenage years in the Dominican Republic, and was able to skip the draft and pick his team as an international amateur free agent. The Dodgers gave him a modest $397,500 signing bonus in January 2022. De Paula has since blossomed into one of the game's best offensive prospects.

His season to date: The Dodgers traded outfielder and consensus top 25 prospect Zyhir Hope for Tarik Skubal and they still have two of the best outfield prospects in the game sitting in Double-A in De Paula and Mike Sirota. Entering play Wednesday, De Paula was hitting .312/.408/.558 with 25 homers and nearly as many walks (72) as strikeouts (75) in a full season at Double-A.

so in reality only 2 players can be called up to help on Sept 1st. imo those HAVE to be outfielders. the pitching is fine and some kind of spark has to be added w the loss of Pages and the no show corners. i can see them adding pitchers and deeming the real talent not ready though. someone has to push the panic button. davey isn't going to suddenly turn motivator.

    Can't be 2 OFs
1 of the call ups has to be a pitcher
