Technically he's right, but there's a fine line between confidence and complacency, and both he and Betts with his similar sentiment earlier are probably not accounting for the fact that everyone is a year older than last year, except Tucker who's about ten years older than last year.
I'm just making shit up here, not saying this is true but what if it's the other way around. Guys are mad at Mookie for not showing team solidarity. But I don't even know that there's an issue. Just spitballing a response to the comment that they're not besties anymore.

Eddings’ night included ordering Cardinals rookie Hancel Rincón to straighten his crooked hat during his MLB debut, issuing St. Louis a pitch-clock violation during the ensuing argument, ejecting manager Oliver Marmol and later making a heavily criticized safe call at home plate that temporarily gave Colorado a 6-4 lead. MLB officials reportedly reviewed the sequence overnight and determined Eddings’ conduct did not meet league standards. Eddings will be eligible to return in 2027. while i find the hat thing annoying i prefer to just watch the clown wearing it embarrass himself. there's no rule he can enforce there. i wonder how far it has to go though. sideways? obviously backwards is unacceptable. stupid to even talk about it. the league should deal w it in the dress code. weird at best. i think the safe call was clear retribution and sealed the deal on his suspension.
