On another subject, sadly the last American car I drove was 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.

The check engine light literally turned on on the way from the dealer to the house.

Mechanic couldn't fine anything wrong with it.

And it just got worse from there (pre lemon laws).

Needless to say, I've driven imports ever since.

My Honda has 190K on it and still drives well. Absolutely no major problems, and I drove thay car everywhere.

    I know, racist.

And just as soon as I say "don't take it personally," you take it personally.

You do it all the time.

I do it a lot. I admit. But what I'm talking about is the times that I don't do it and you and others seem to think I am. You and darth are convinced everytime I post it is to disparage you personally. (It's only a hobby, sometimes I post for my own amusement.) Honestly, sometimes I make what I think is a perfectly innocent post only to have one of you pipe up thinking I was talking about you. Well guess what? Sometimes I'm not.

I won't even discuss what I think of what you wrote in my sig quote.

Ok, wtf are you trying to say? I didn't write the sig quote, you did. I copied and pasted it, word for word. Not even I can make that shit up.

You've proved, in your response, exactly what I posted about previously. Precisely.

Whatever, tried having an intelligent conversation, but you take it as an attack.

    Have a nice life cycle.

    Thats the thing though.
There is no difference between 'you do it all the time' and 'i do it a lot'.
You do it all the time is another way of saying that you do it a lot. Not necessarily that you do it each and every time. Just that you do it a heck of a lot and you have a reputation.
Nobody (and by nobody i dont actually mean nobody, these are common figures of speech) has the time (by time i mean will) to parse your posts to see if you are doing it or not doing it.
You do it so much that many people dont care to figure out if you are doing it or not doing it.
They just figure you are doing it again... because you do it all the time. (by all the time i mean very frequently).
But these kind of pedantic arguments where you get painstakingly fixated on something irrelevant are what is most annoying to people.
Like the closing and opening of that one thread. Nobody cares. (by nobody i mean most everyone doesnt care but you)
See you may be 100 percent correct on something but it will be something so insipidly unimportant that your grandstanding about being right borders on trolling.
    And we dislike trolls.
    I dislike trolls.
I dont think you are a troll. Maybe an Orc or some other kind of Goblinkin.

I know a couple people with Mazda 3s and they love them. No major problems.

    @doyerfan
Personally, I wouldn't worry about resale price. My guess is the difference in price when you buy will be greater than the difference in price you will see when selling. For a Mazda3/Civic I would recommend buying (not leasing) and planning on driving it into the ground, those later years when your car is paid off and you keep giving it "one more year"... that's where the real value is. Both of those cars should age well and be cheap to fix when needed.

Thanks a bunch everyone, it's really helped a lot. Been better to ask on here then to look through reviews and car forums where it feels fake. Anyways, I'll be going on some test drives sometime this week or next.

If none of that works out, I have a trouble free time with my Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe. Not bad...
Pretty good road service policy on it, too.
I was going to advise you, but I' m sure someone thinks they suck...

remember paying it off in the early 2000's
was looking into buying something else
but that extra $550/month came in handy
    still does

'98 Expedition still on the road? Wonders never cease. Wife had a '97 Mountaineer and as soon as it was paid for the repair bills started. She loved the vehicle but I hated the upkeep.

Oh, and fuck me for being contrary...again.

late to the convo and agree on hondas and toyotas you really can't go wrong
what i will say is about the whole new car thing
last one i bought was an 02 tundra and my driver is an 00 lexus gs300
both great vehicles and i would drive the lexus to NY in a heartbeat
i can afford to go buy new cars but through the years i've gotten tired of bills and new car is one of those i hate plus more taxes
i was thinking about it the other day and while i like new cars if i had to replace mine i might buy another
sure you don't look as cool in an older vehicle but for 5-6k i can pick up my same car w less miles and throw some rims on it
i may end up w a new car, probably a lease, soon for tax purposes but thats the only reason
the japanese vehicles are without a doubt the best way to go
just take a look at some of the used options if you are looking dependable driver
but if its chick magnet i get it, carry on lad we've all been there
oh and people still complement me on the gs lol and i get chicks
