If you're waiting until the 4th game of the season to see your favorite team plate a single run, you might be Padre fan

Word, couldn't be any better, especially after alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the talk about Kemp's RBIz during the off-season...not a single RBI to be found on SD's entire side, zilch. Lol
And it makes it worse when the opposing team's starting pitcher goes yard ( in his 1st ever ML game) in the series closing game, like damn even he can put 1 on the board. Smh
    Raggedy ass Padres.

Wasn't able to see the game but I got to see the highlights. Maeda's dinger had me rolling.

OK I'll give you that, it's a good point. But I just wonder if moving him, or anyone else, can get us to the WS...like anyone. That extra thing. The missing link. The guy that puts you over the top.
Whoever is traded, whoever we got for him, we are still losers, and I don't think anyone can argue that.
Someday, someone will be the one player we have been missing. The missing element.
After waiting so long, you kinda feel, it could have been him or that one or this one...maybe we shouldn't have let him go. Idk. But to be so adamant that it was a good thing that we did, without the results to back it up, seems at least as futile as complaining about it.
Maybe this is the year it all happens..maybe it's Dave...

About as good as it gets to start off the season...I can't imagine any better. Pitching was spectacular, and timely hitting right there.
Puig deserves big time credit for the serious player he seems to have now tuned on to. I don't know how the kid has changed his whole personality (it looks), and there is an element of playfullness on his part gone that will be missed, I think. But if not showing it anymore produces this new Puig, then so be it.
Right now, I think he has shown that he cares about being the best player he can be...and if it remains, with his gifts, the sky is the limit for him.
The new improved Yasiel could just be that guy that does put us over the top.
The first two games with the Sfags, with our/their 4 and 5 going, may be very telling for both teams down the road.
Btw, the slugging Kenta, wins the Maeda/ Samardjia contest, hands down. First week version, anyway.
And I guess everyone hates Charlie Steiner here pretty much, as I've repearedly read, but the new guy sounds about as generic as it gets. Even with the unjustified excitement, the mistakes, I'd rather Steiner. He can be outrigjt funny, too.
I think you need a signature voice announcing for a team, and with Orel and Nomar as bookends, it sounds like white noise after a while..to the ear, anyway...zzzzzzzzz...

    I kind of agree here.

Like we should've traded Gordon back when it could've gotten us Roy Halladay and we might have a world series ring. We refused to trade him when he would've netted us a top SP in baseball. And although the return we got for him was nice from Miami, it's not the most we could've gotten for him and in 2009 he could've gotten us someone who would take us to the WS.

With Puig I think there's always been a reasonable expectation that his attitude could turn around. Given his age, what he's been through, and the complete culture change, there was certain to be an adjustment period. That said, there are some guys who will get it and some who will never get it. I feel like we've seen small stints of maturity out of Puig in the past, so I'm not sold 100% on his new attitude, but the first series looks VERY promising. You said it, the sky is the limit for the kid - MVP-type baseball? Why not?

    a) I have no idea WTF you guys are talking about. In 2009 Dee was worth 1/8th of a bucket of warm spit. He was never worth a top SP in baseball (and still isn't). Pass me that pipe.

    b) there is seldom 1 player that puts a team over the top. Who was THE player that put the Giants over the top? It was a team effort, and a group of guys that came together as a unit at the right time. No one player carried any of those WS teams.
