Butler is the dream goal, unfortunately no chance he leaves Chicago this year and about a 5% chance he's a free agent next year either.

Aldridge, Wes Matthews, and Tyson Chandler would be a good free agent class for the Lakers.

reports say the Lakers get the 1st crack at talking to Aldridge. lock down. don't let him leave the facility.

Reports are in that Aldrige's preference is to sign with the Lakers. Man, if we can get him and Butler, IDGAF what other pieces we sign, I think we would've had a very successful offseason.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't Butler have to sign a 3 year minimum deal if he does not take the qualifying offer with the Bulls?

Unless One of them settles for 4-5 million and the other settles for the vet minimum, becaust Aldridge would take up 18.9 of the 23 mil in cap spacethen no.

that works. they can also free up a couple more mill by dealing Kelly and declining on Blue and Sacre later today.

if you're saying that Chandler wouldn't play for the minimum, it's hard to say if the guy would or wouldn't because neither of us know the guy or what he's thinking.

all either of us know for a fact is that Chandler's made around 130M over the life of his career. if he's taken care of his money the right way all these years, 1yr and 1.4M to play for the home team shouldn't hurt his pockets. he's also spent years with Scott.

as far as Wes Matthews goes..dude, he's coming off achilles surgery. if the Lakers offer him around what he made last year that'd be nothing to sneeze at. Matthews should be an easy sign so long as the offer is in the 5-6M range for at least the next year as he gets over his ruptured achilles.

cap sky rocketing after next season, these guys aren't taking discounts that big, no matter much $$ they've made. Matthews off of an achilles will be looking for the biggest $$ deal he can possibly get.

the cap's status after next year means he'd have a shot at getting back some of what he doesn't take this year. however, Chandler's going into his 15th season, so his earning potential's getting sliced regardless. he made 15M this year.

with 2016's cap taken into consideration, he'll probably be offered 3yrs/30M at the most this off-season..a 2yrs/20M offer next off-season if he signed a 1yr deal this off-season and his play didn't fall off a cliff.

but in the past, under normal cap circumstances, a Chandler in his 15th year would be offered 7-8M annually over 3yrs at the most. that's 21-24M..basically the same as what he could still get next off-season if he put it off a year. it's pretty much a loss of 6-9M..less if he continues to play beyond 2017..less when you consider what he's already made in total..less when you consider all the money he stole from Chicago early in his career. he'd probably forfeit that 6-9M if he hadn't already won a title. the title that Chandler won in Dallas likely has more of an impact on his thinking. guys usually take less to win titles and he's already done that. that being said, IDGAF..win again.

not " will be ". is. Matthews is looking for the biggest deal possible. that being said, they can all look for the biggest deal possible..the question is will they get it and coming off a ruptured achilles he's probably looking at a short term deal that allows him a shot to prove he can be the same guy and get back to the market ASAP. Lakers can open up another couple mill and offer him about 7.2M to start. he just made 6.1M this year.

Marc Gasol - no interest in the Lakers..which has long been the thought.

The Lakers are trying to trade away Young and Kelly without taking back money, per Wojnarowski. Bryant, Randle, Russell and seven roster holds for minimum salary players is a little more than $36 million. With a likely $67.1 million salary cap this season, that leaves about $31 million to sign Aldridge and Jordan.

they still need a little more room even after all that to go that big.

Would be way too good to be true

Exec Expects Westbrook, Harden To Join Forces With Lakers
    Jun 30, 2015 3:31 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers have lost some of their edge in attracting top level free agents, but that can surely shift back in the next few years.

Shaquille O'Neal famously signed with the Lakers in 1996.

"It came down to the aura of Los Angeles," said Magic executive Pat Williams, according to the book "The Show: The Inside Story of the Spectacular Los Angeles Lakers."

"They don't have the same pull, but they do have the city, weather and off-the-court appeal," one executive said. "Also, Kobe is only there for a short time, then you can be the face of the team."

Said another executive: "The Lakers will always be a huge draw. They will be fine regardless. While losing Howard was not planned, they will still be in on anyone."

And said another executive: "They just need one big guy to go there, and the rest will follow. I expect [Russell] Westbrook and [James] Harden to join forces there when they become free. It definitely still has allure. It's still L.A., and they are still the Lakers. No free agent can question whether or not they will spend the money to win titles."

Westbrook is not eligible to become a free agent until 2016, while Harden isn't a free agent until 2018.

Both Westbrook and Harden were born and raised in the Los Angeles area

that's the biggest thing right there. even when the cap rises to 108M, Lakers won't be one of those teams spending to the cap floor to abide by the CBA ( like a bunch of teams will be doing)..Lakers will be blasting through the 108M cap ceiling and still be willing to go into the luxury tax. they'll be at 130M or some silly shit, signing their own guys to bigger contracts to keep them ( unlike OKC with Harden).
