Does anyone think the Gaetz appointment is a misstep of enormous proportions for Trump?
How do you justify this particular guy as AG with his recent history ?
It's like appointing Hunter Biden head of the ATF...
Granted, I'm not exactly a "Trump can do no wrong, ever guy", but this, after all those other mostly promising moves, seems flat out buffoonery to me.

i see it as going for a true outsider same as Noem
the only thing it likely can be is wanting people who don't gaf in critical positions in which a true asshole is needed
i have no idea whether or not any of the things about Gaetz are true or more shit throwing by the left but its going to come out when they vet him cause he can't hide
certainly the timing of his resignation is questionable and there's no way DT is going to go 100%
but if the accusations are true its hard to believe he would have gone that way
also i agree w what Tyrus said in that this swamp isn't going to go down without a real fight and pawns will be needed

Yeah, I don't have the guy guilty as charged yet or anything, but it's a head scratching move to me.
He could have waited ( I guess)...everybody is a lawyer anyway in politics. Except Trump, amusingly.
Maybe Gaetz has a good and supple mind, I don't know. But it comes off like a 2016 era petulant, spite move for Trump and I think considering the true Red Tsunami this time, it comes off like a personal gloat, imo.
It reeks of the Dems putting their maleable marionettes in key positions to get what they thought was eventually going to be a lock. Gotta think DT should rise above this past puke...
Maybe down the road a bit, the confusing smoke will dissipate and the "wisdom" of this will be revealed.

 

After Trump's first term , he needs someone in the role that will have his back and won't be influenced by others. If Trump picked him and trusts him, that's good enough for me. Agree w/diablo, we are going to need a few pawns to win this war.

 

other thing is Gaetz is most certainly the lightning rod atm so its possible that's the purpose he serves
if his case was going to take him down why not go down on these terms allowing the dems a victory they were going to get anyway?
one thing for sure is this squad is playing chess this time around i doubt seriously much of anything is by chance

Well, yeah, I get the core of where you're coming from...he needs people he can trust. But does anybody else trust Gaetz sufficiently in the Republican party ?
I definitely get the " Scapegoat For the Empire" concept like Breaker Morant was, as I initially posted, but it just comes off like an all too spiteful move by a publically spiteful man, which Trump has wallowed in multiple times, at least in his rhetoric, for years. It reeks of tit for tat bullshit, for me anyway, and I'm tired of the schoolyard bully drivel. Too fucking old to waste time with that garbage.
Then again, I'm glad he won, but I don't obey and render absolute fealty to everything he does, without question.
Remember, he trusted many people before, in many important positions, and certainly many of them eventually excoriated him again and again. Did full 180's.
Obviously, a very big chunk of his past moves proved that his initial " trust" was very askew.
We'll see.

I rate this performance up there with his portrayal of Sgt. Howie, in The Wicker Man.
