The censoring business happens on both ends of the spectrum.
The mental gymnastics people are willing to do to justify it is the astounding part.

good ideas don't require force, and bad ideas don't require silencing.

i understand the "it happens on both sides" and usually agree but the left is going full fascist
please give an example of the right shutting down free speech so i might be enlightened
seems to me the right fighting back is what has liberals going crazy and resulting to violence and calls for censorship
maybe i am being partisan but i don't seem to recall the same phenomenon coming from the right
    misinformation absolutely i agree

Does the POTUS's constant attack on mainstream news media, and the millions of people who support his position, count?

    not even close
he is using words to battle words and there is no violence or censorship in that
his ego and inability to take criticism is his greatest flaw but people can make up their own minds about the media bias
unless you can point out a law he is instituting or a mob he is commanding to do damage
the true dichotomy being the ass licking that went on the previous 8 years
in a lot of peoples opinion its about time someone stood up to them and challenged the veracity of these negative stories coming like a landslide
i understand why people don't like him i really do
he doesn't make me stand up and cheer or want to attend a rally
but its been a fucking month and i think he deserves a chance without being piled on daily for winking too much or some shit
its just stupid at this point
i was talking censorship and the fact he is standing up for himself isn't even close to the same thing imo

Your initial response was in reference to California as a whole not just LA.
Measure B is not significant enough since most Porn is in the IE and other places anyways
Plus even though im not in favor of condoms in porn I think they should be required to obtain a health permit which is included in the law

the rest of your post has a whole lotta nothing tbh
Criticize Brown's policies and why they have been bad for California not select business owners
Re: Pension... How does Brown get blame for that?
His efforts to hire financial experts to deal with pension instead of politicians was blocked as well as his other plans to reform the system

Rick Scott banning the term "Climate change" from official communications comes to mind.

And here's a Harris poll with some surprising results, self identified Republicans are more likely than Democrats to say a book or movie should be banned.

I get that what you were talking about and what I said might not be exactly the same thing. Both are First Ammendment issues though. Trump has said he wants to change libel laws to make it easier to "sue the media and win lots of money". He calls out the press constantly for things that clearly aren't libel, like he called the media "dishonest" for not openly praising his press conference the other day, which is clearly opinion. But when someone wrote an unsupported fact saying 3 million people voted illegally he ran with it and still talks about it like it's a proven fact. This might fall more into opinion on my part, but for a person in his position to make fake news claims the way he does, that alone is a serious threat to the First Ammendment and freedom of speech. It might not be physical violence or direct censorship, but it is meant to threaten the press. He wants more control of the media - and I get that he probably thinks he's doing the right thing, just being a good guy - but it's one of the key pillars of fascism. To that I think we both agree, that attacks on free speech are fascist ideals. But I don't agree it is a pure left thing. It is an extremist thing. And while you might not agree, I think it is very much an issue with the Trump administration - I'd even argue it might be the single biggest issue we should be concerned about.

Just curious, what liberal attacks on free speech were you originally referring to? I know Milo/Berkeley is one.

Man, I just read the Harris Poll and some of those numbers in the poll seem disturbingly high. Although, it was asking about books in school libraries, so I guess that explains some of the numbers.

I found this result in the survey comical though...

Should the following books be available in a school library:

    The Bible, 13% say no
    The Torah, 29% say no

Has anyone read about the reason the weather is so volatile according to the Inuit?
I know it's not political or even arguable, really, but they say it is due not to global warming or whatever label we put on the causitive factor.
They say the earth has moved...shifted on it's axis.
    Interesting.
I think the Mayans held the same or similar beliefs and the Hopi.

Same with people saying students shouldn't have access to materials that discuss evolution (16%), and creationism (19%).
Assuming there is no overlap in those groups, you have 35% of the population the believes students shouldn't have access to materials contrary to their personal beliefs.
    That's indoctrination, not education.

    Yeah. That's it.
Guess it's more valuable as political tennis ball, rather than examine that path. For some.
    Oh well.

i'm not blaming him for it but he's not including it in the rosy picture
if you can just say the other stuff is a whole lot of nothing...ok we can still be friends but really?
to me it totally insane and its not select business owners
talk to ANYONE you know who owns a business

who is rick scott? and people saying something should be banned and violently shutting it down are just slightly different
i think we agree more than we disagree about a lot of things and i don't say the right is without fault
in fact i truly hate those motherfuckers with equal zeal
screaming and rioting isn't going to work and thats coming from one side as far as i can tell
any conversation i ever have w a sane person not committed to one side or the other always ends in the middle

at the moment it is definitely a left thing and i find it hilarious that its being exposed
we will never agree but i enjoy debating it with you mouse
i appreciate your mind and your opinions and so i am going to ask you a serious question that has nothing to do with politics and anyone else who wants can join in
the thing that is really troubling to me is people laying at my feet on the street wherever i go
i want to try to form something real and direct to change even a few lives
not a charity with a big overhead but an actual lifeline that gets every penny to people who are completely devastated and alone
if you could do something like that what would you do?

Brown was trying to clean up a mess he helped create when he signed an executive order in 1978 which instituted union shop collective bargaining for public sector union jobs.

Unions have become the most powerful political voice in our state ever since.
