Puig is a 4-5 win player. I can understand the skepticism of not wanting him out there because he hasn't seen game action in over a month, but if you honestly feel like the Dodgers are better off without him or with Ruggiano, that's great comedy.

It's mostly about his role for me. If management doesn't think he's ready to start against the Mets' filthy right handers then at that point we're obviously talkin about a bench/pinch role for Puig and that's not really ideal. Ruggiano has like 4 or 5 jacks in 20 games, he's seeing the ball well, having good ABs, and is more comfortable with a bench/pinch role.

Personally, I'd drop Utley and let that be that because at the very least Puig could be a game changing defensive replacement late in games, but to me it's also understandable for some fans to prefer Ruggiano under certain circumstances. Puig and controversy, though..who woulda thought? As if " Rollins vs. Seager " wasn't enough.

PUIG SAYS HE'S ON DODGER NLDS PLAYOFF ROSTER

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Yasiel Puig said Wednesday he's on the playoff roster for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who haven't revealed their 25-man squad for the upcoming NL Division Series.

Manager Don Mattingly said players were informed of their status for the best-of-five series against theNew York Mets beginning Friday at Dodger Stadium. However, the team will wait until the roster is due that morning to announce it.

Puig missed the final month of the regular season while sidelined with a hamstring injury. He returned last week and played in the last two games, starting and getting a hit in the first one.

The Cuban said he feels good and wants to give himself a chance to be productive off the bench.

Mattingly on difficulty of setting Postseason Roster
by Daniel Starkand | Dodgers Nation — 1 hour ago

Every year in September, Major League Baseball rosters expand, allowing clubs to carry as many as 40 players on their active roster over the final month of the regular season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were among the teams that nearly reached the expanded limit, which gave them an opportunity to see Scott Schebler, Corey Seager, and others at the big league level. Additionally, the Dodgers called up multiple relievers, and that aided the club’s effort to not burn out a relief pitcher.

Rosters however, must revert back to 25 men for postseason play, which means difficult decisions for the Dodgers’ front office and manager Don Mattingly. “I think the challenge this time is really going through the roster, and trying to pick what you think is going to be the best roster for the team you’re playing,” said Mattingly when asked what challenges he faces this year as opposed to previous postseasons.

“It always comes down to one, two, three choices that are kind of on the bubble.” He added depth is the reason assembling the roster this year is tougher. “It’s going to be a little more difficult. We’ve had some injuries that make some of the decisions easier, but I think you really want tougher decisions,” Mattingly said.

“That means you have more guys involved with those spots. It’s been a little tougher this year than last.” With the Dodgers rotation of Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke and Brett Anderson already announced, the Dodgers have decided on the remaining 22 players, Mattingly said on Wednesday; though nothing has yet been made official.

The Dodgers are scheduled for a light workout on Thursday morning, which will be their last in advance of Game 1 on Friday night at Dodger Stadium.

Seager makes the cut. Rollins mentioned he's the starter from now on.

Nicasio leads the team in Holds, but gets left off the roster. How often do you see that? He stinks though, so I think it's the right move.
