Left in the 9th. Just got home. It cannot be understated how horrible of an announcer Charlie Steiner is. He completely faked everyone out on that Puig fly ball and does it all the time. Unnacceptable for a radio play by play guy. There is no reason he should still have a job with this team. I have never heard a worse call. Well, I probably have (from him). Edit: I see you guys too thought it was gone. Fine. But a radio guy has to be measured. He made it seem like it was 3/4 up the Pavilion.
Everyone in the stadium thought that ball was gone, except Parra and the people in the LF pavillion. It's not like he hit off the end of the bat sky high, he fucking smoked it
This is just one instance, chief. Steiner is horrible on a daily basis and would botched the call even if what you are describing wasn't the case. If you are broadcasting on radio, the left fielder is who you should be looking at in the first place to gauge the ball. There are several ways to announce a play like that and not fool your listening audience. Steiner just does not have it. Vin's simulcast is evidence of how a good announcer can do it
I stood up when he hit it, looked that good. Davis did the same thing. I know Steiner is bad though. Honestly I've never been so shocked a ball hit didn't go out.
