A number of reports out of the D.R. say Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura has died in a car accident. I have not independently confirmed.

Sadly, this is becoming all too common.

Jesus, two players in one day. Very sad. Don't drink and drive!

I forgot that Oscar Taveres was one of Yordano's best friends. Man... just terrible. It pisses me off, if you have ever been on those islands, the roads are already treacherous enough when you aren't boozed up. Just fucking makes me so god damned angry that these guys are so irresponsible. It is becoming a yearly tradition.

Saw it, apparently it is common practice in the DR to do it. I thought I was just gonna see the crash scene, but yeah...

I think I saw earlier that the D.R. roads are rated the most dangerous in the world. Just why even risk it?

i don't know what makes a road most dangerous but in most countries that get a lot of rain they have those deep run off wells on both sides of the road
veer off into one of those and its over
for me the worst roads are mountain roads w those wells and two lanes
worst i ever saw was in sri lanka w huge holes and buses full of people coming downhill at us
i thought i was going to die like 30 times that day
have found myself on the side of a few roads puking out of fear
and many times i wasn't even the driver

Or the 90s if you were to cheap to pay the new toll roads.

Does this cause the royals to take a look into Kazmir or any of our other surplus of starters?

Narrow and windy mountain roads, paired with like you said wet weather, makes them a little more dangerous. I fucking hated driving around St Lucia, no fucking speed limit on those roads so locals are FLYING. Fucking beater cars with bald tires, it's amazing anyone on the island lives past 45. This whole topic riles me up. Just so senseless and these kids go back to their home country with (usually) fancy cars and being away from there for 9-10 months and probably losing a step when it comes to driving in those condition. Add booze to the mix and you're bound to have trouble. What was it, 5 players had died there in less than one year now? Crazy

i read that the DR has without a doubt the highest death rate on its roads of any country
latest says it was fog (that REALLY fucks things up) and speed
    no toxicology for 3 weeks
fog is the absolute worst for me because you have no idea whats a few feet in front of you
that can happen on the 101 grade out of ventura or the grapevine (easily one of the scariest fwys in cali for me in rain and fog)
