I'm sure he does. His plan worked! http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-giants-cardinals-notes-20141016-story.html
"I feel bad for Ned," Sabean said. "He raised the bar there. He's been through a lot with that organization. They're much better off now — even if he is no longer in that job — whether they think so or not." If not winning a championship or even making the World Series in nine seasons is raising the bar..... Then I guess he's right.
Sabean is a great GM, and is a dullard on his ability to assess job performance. He can afford to be so affable towards ned with two, possibly three , WS rings in his pocket. Big fucking deal. yeah we're in great shape...due to ned. yaeh, for the Giants to walk over us whenever they want, like they have been, when it counts. The enemy of my enemy is my friend....
Of course he thinks Ned did a great job....Ned made boneheaded moves and was a terrible GM. As a rival GM, you love to see that shit
Did you watch the Dodgers the ten years before Colletti? The bar was laying on the fucking ground, Ned at least made a limbo pole out of the titleless bastards. His real problem was floundering 240 million a year and not raising the bar anymore after McCourt.
If Ned did a bad job, it reflects poorly on Sabean. I'm not saying this is a self-serving statement... But it reminds me a lot of Ned's yearly "our team is better than this" speech.
I don't really give a flying shit about Sabean's "feeling sorry" for ned, it's really just a stupid annoyannce. For all I know, they could be weekend lovers in the off season and go sailing down the coast together wearing Gucci scarfs wafting in the Pacific breeze...or have a cute orange house in Key West... But if the guy (Sabean) gets two the WS wins two times in 5 years, has two alredy in his pocket, sitting on a possible three now, how does this guy suck? He has made outstanding late season pickups over and over again, and seems to know when a player is ready to either break out, or have one last glorious stand left in him...he has been nothing short of brilliant with that, IMO. So again, on a BB level, of course, how does he suck? I don't get that as a result of what he's done... It never ceases to amaze me how differently people look at accomplishments of some, and come away with these kinds of opinions when the success is overflowing... I would have taken back everything I ever wrote about the vastly over rated Colletti if we just made it to the WS, ONCE, and not even won it.
fwiw... sabean also thinks lee harvey oswald acted alone, the moon landing was staged, elvis was abducted by aliens and is still alive and pro wrestling is real
