Wilson receives ring after misunderstanding By Paul Casella -- MLB.com -- Today 11:26 am Following the Dodgers' 3-2 loss in San Francisco on Thursday, reliever Brian Wilson jogged across the field toward the opposing dugout to have a conversation with Giants president and CEO Larry Baer in what turned out to be the result of a misunderstanding. Wilson, who spent the previous seven seasons with the Giants, pitched just two games last year before needing to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery. San Francisco went on to win the World Series in his absence and did not re-sign Wilson in the offseason. "We have been for seven months trying to give [Wilson] his World Series ring, and tried these past three days," Giants spokeswoman Staci Slaughter said, according to The Associated Press. "It's been more challenging than we expected. We've given the ring to the Dodgers and he now has it. We really tried to do the right thing. We invited him to the ring ceremony. A number of members of our organization repeatedly reached out to him and we didn't get any response." After the discussion near the Dodgers' dugout, Baer proceeded to deliver the ring to Dodgers personnel outside of the Los Angeles clubhouse. "It's just unfortunate, because he was an important member of our organization," Slaughter said. Wilson, who signed with the Dodgers on July 30 and made his season debut on Aug. 22, is 2-1 with a 0.73 ERA in 16 relief appearances. __
Sometimes, normal everyday Joe's like myself see these types of things and wonder WTF? I mean does anyone have a fucking phone like the rest of us? Is Wilson really so weird that he couldn't make the effort to come get the ring? how about Emails or texts? Have they ever tried UPS? maybe they could've just mailed it to him? Does it make sense that the only way Brian Wilson could get in contact with the owner is to happen to catch him at an actual ballgame he happens to be in/at? If Wilson signed with the Angels, would he have to wait until the next interleague game to get his ring? I mean he's Brian Fucking Wilson...they obviously know who he is! Don't they answer his calls? Does Wilson really ignore a call from an MLB owner or GM? Come the fuck on! What a weird world celebs live in.
