I loved Hanley as a Dodger, but I also love the idea of a new SS. It's the right time to say our goodbyes. I think a QO is likely, but I will be extremely surprised if we offer anything beyond that.

    i loved hanley the hitter
but when you routinely have to take one of your best bats out of games late because of his defense, then he becomes a liability
tight game in the 9th, who would you rather face... hanley or rojas?
i'm torn on a qualifying offer because it means one more year of the aforementioned liability
a draft pick would be nice, but it'd also be nice to throw the money we'd save at a capable starter or bullpen help
and i haven't even alluded to the health concern, with him missing 110 games the past two seasons
    so yeah, idk

We just need to adopt the DH, Then hanley would be a keeper for sure.

I agree about the qualify offer, the best option might be to not even offer it. Why risk him accepting it if he doesn't fit the picture for next year?

I've said it before, taking him out for defense in close games was absolutely the wrong move time and time again. If his defense is so bad that you don't want him to play the final 1-2 innings, why is it ok for him to play 7-8? And his injury history has to be a concern.

Ship has sailed, it's going to happen one of these years, why not the time when it would be most beneficial to us?

They'll make the offer ($15.2). He's expected to turn it down. But if for some some reason he accepts it, Drew can live with it for one year. And we will have to as well.

fuck the dh and everything it stands for
pitchers should be athletes as well
and the dodgers have always had good hitting pitchers
newcombe, drysdale, sutcliffe, fernando, leary, greinke...
bunghumper hit 4 bombs this year
which may seem a lot until you see that drysdale hit 7 in a season... twice

If Hanley leaves, you'll all be mad when Miguel Rojas is hitting .124 in late April...

I have a strong feeling he's gone, I just can't see who they can put at shortstop though. Have to upgrade the offense elsewhere by a large amount if you're gonna justify having Erisbel there.

This might be very short sighted but it's almost like Hanley+AJ or something like that or Russell+ Erisbel

Obviously trades can happen and it can be another catcher other then AJ who is cheap but yeah

If we sign Hanley we will be mad that Hanley is already hurt by late April and we still have Hanley under contract for 5 years... plus we will be mad Miguel Rojas is hitting .124

We should have the DH by then... maybe. and why does everyone want to send Hanley to 3b? Why not 2B, especially if Dee doesn't prove that this season season was a one hit wonder.

Seager is projected to move there, but so far the Dodgers are grooming him as a SS right now. If Seager is a SS for the next 4-5 seasons, Hanley at 3B wouldn't block him at all.

I'd be more concerned that Hanley is worse defensively at 3B than SS.
