I don't think Ayton is a difference maker anyway. Watched him all year at UofA.
Organizations tend to get better when they acquire top end talent
And the Suns do indeed pick 1st overall, now
Lakers' pick didn't move up in the draft. I'll call that a victory.
LAL pick lands at #10
Pretty much successfully got out from under the Nash trade
Cavs in trouble
As I say that, down to a 6pt game quickly
Celtics are going to the Finals without Kyrie and Hayward, aren't they?
They have an asswhooping waiting for them tho
Nance and Clarkson a couple of bums
Barely even get to play
Shit, Clarkson didn't even play at all tonight. Is he hurt? Physically, I mean..
Lol LeBron called Clarkson " Jordan Crawford "
I dunno. I think its gonna be closer than people think if its gst vs Boston. That team is playing and clicking on all cylinders and fight for 48 minutes. The warriors will win but I think they'll win a lot close games.
Brad Stevens didn't deserve a Coach of the Year vote though...
Pretty damn weird
Either way works
I think that Boston is showing what team play and really good coaching can accomplish vs teams that have one or two guys that play hero ball.
I think they'll get smoked by Golden State because they play better defense, play as a team, and don't rely on one or two players like Philly and Cleveland do.
The question in my mind is how much better will Boston be with Kyrie and Haywood. I'm thinking probably not all that much better, because they'll lose the team cohesion.
Mbah Moute is a bum
They should send them both Kyrie and Haywood. Plus Greg Monroe.
That is how good the Celtics GM is. He can blow the Spurs over with an offer they cant refuse.
They will trade them bonafide stars to SA that is a team who does not regularly attract a lot of top tier players.
The Spurs like to home grow their players and are good at getting value for the buck in trades/FA.
An offer of two bonafide stars locked into multiyear deals to pair with Aldridge and the legacy of Parker/Ginobili.
And the Celtics take the contracts of Gasol and Patty Mills.
Both teams would improve a lot from this deal in a variety of ways.
Boston is doing great as they are, bringing in two new starters who are supposed to be the faces of the franchise will change things.
Defense will not be as good that's for sure.
But put Kawhi in there instead, the best 2 way player in the game... it makes Boston better on both ends of the floor. Gasol and Mills will have a use situationally off the bench making the Celtics still really deep. Plus it keeps Kawhi out of Cleveland/Philly and sends two good players outta the East.
Spurs need quality star level players to replace Manu and Parker. A healthy Haywood and Kyrie are huge gets for SA.
They already have some nice young players and solid veterans to make the Spurs a contender.
PG: Kyrie Irving, Tony Parker
SG: Dejaunte Murray, Manu Ginobili
SF: Gordon Hayward, Danny Green
PF: Rudy Gay, Kyle Anderson
C : LeMarcus Aldridge, Greg Monroe
Pop remakes SA into an elite team with a big 3 again instead of one superstar.
Ainge refines Boston as the leanest meanest basketball fighting machine.
They both get to stick it to the Lakers.
PG: Terry Rozier, Marcus Smart
SG: Jaylen Brown, Patty Mills
SF: Jayson Tatum, Kawhi Leonard
PF: Kawhi Leonard, Marcus Morris
C : Al Horford, Pau Gasol
why would he offer them 2 though? one will do. were assuming kawai would have to sign an extension as well, so if he doesn't, no bueno. even so, I dont see any other team offering up either Haywood or Irving. Just one of them. Kawaii is gone anyway so why would they give up both of their stars for one. makes no sense. also celtics were balling with kyrie there as well, so they'd only have to adjust to Haywood. not a bad problem to have really. stevens knows him and wouldn't have brought him in or given the ok if he thought he didn't fit in with this team.
so trade maybe based on ainge doesn't think they will recover from injuries is the only way I see them dealing Irving or Hayward. they've built up a deep roster now which will give those guys some rest before the playoffs in the years to come. Not to mention 2 guys that can close games offensively down the stretch. something they lack currently. no go to guy really. bringing in the alleged headcase Leonard is a bigger risk at disrupting the chemistry the team has.
That UCLA team he was on was pretty damn special though.
As a lifelong Celtics and Warriors hater, that final would (and will likely be) a nightmare.
He was a bum then too
In a widely considered weak draft class, again not worried about them.
You don't worry about a lot..when the Celtics started off hot this year, you weren't worried. Here they are.
Now, I'd agree with your weak draft class assertion if the Suns weren't picking first overall. But they don't have to worry about who's better between the 5th-10th guy. They can just take a baby Ayton that averaged 20/11 and shoots the 3 and hits his free throws. They suck, but if they keep adding assets..we are talking about a team that was close to acquiring Kyrie
