Irish, you fucking psycho. I must cleanse this page so we can appropriately have dirty thoughts about selena gomez...
The Padres, one of the worst offenses in the history of the game, have the best batting average with the bases loaded. It's more random then meaningful
And that's how they score the few runs they do. It is a problem for us and a major one. You want to not see, then don't.
I'm assuming your citing yesterday's Dee AB? Of course you are lol. It's a useless stat, really. The dodgers have the 2nd highest OPS in all of baseball at .763 with runners in scoring position. Only behind... the Rockies... hmmmm maybe the stat doesn't mean much lol
Not at all, lol, actually didn't watch the game. I'm saying that this is a real issue for us, much like our BP is. It's hard to have that many big issues when you are one of the best teams in BP. I fail to see how OPS has to do with this? It's like saying we have the best WHIP and saying Brian Wilson is good. No, he's not and we suck at batting with the bases loaded. You want to lol and be passive and blind to an issue to ahead.
I guess it would help to do better with bases loaded sure but it's more random then anything. The Padres do fantastic with bases loaded and it doesn't mean shit. The Dodgers are the worst with the bases loaded and have had great offensive numbers. If the Dodgers did better with the bases loaded but then numbers in other situations started to decrease, the offensive output could stay the same or be less. It's annoying to be that bad with the bases loaded but it doesn't really mean anything and it's not something that's indicative of some mental block or lack of offensive potential. You can find any situational stat to show "struggles" or "strengths" of an offense. The Dodgers have a .939 OPS with runners on 2nd and 3rd and then a .627 OPS with runners on 1st and 3rd. What's the difference in mentality? Very little it's just random. You can look at any situational type of hitting and say it's a weakness or a strength but what matters is how the offense is doing overall and if you guys getting on base and hitting well overall, you're fine. And this team does that.
In 2012 the Giants were 28th out of 30 in the MLB in OPS with the bases loaded with a .575 OPS and the Tigers were 29th with a .534 OPS The two teams who met in the World Series /thread
