    Have u seen jocs risp?
    He is horrible.
All talk of the rest of the lineup in this Joc thread is pure shifting of the point and diverting attention.
Jocs free pass is starting to lessen somewhat.
You know whose at fault for Puig sucking? Not the lineup but Puig.
    Joc deserves similar treatment.
But he has the good will of a lot of fantasy fans.

Baseball fans like Puig because Puig has come up big when it matters all his career. Even in his worse year.
2016 AVG for Puig with men on base is over .300 and his RISP and High Leverage AVG is .286.
He elevates his play when it counts.
Most good players are lucky to stand pat. Jocs numbers dip considerably.

He also hits way better on the road than at home which again goes to the fact that Puig is an emotional player that plays better when the situations are tough.
You need players like that on a team.
Guys like Joc are less important unless they are hitting lots more bombs.
And generally im a fan of players like Joc. And im a Joc Pederson fan.
He is really good at homers and taking pitches.
But Puig is better at baseball as a whole.

Puigs swing was also broke down and in the process of being rebuilt.
And he was great before they tried to "fix him".
They turned him from a hard line drive hitter who did it all really well into a pull hitter because they wanted him to be a big home run hitter. Just because he is buff doesnt mean he has to hit 35 homers a year.
20 homers is fine if he can hit well and gun guys down.
But Mac and others wanted him to be a power hitter.
If yall remember thr old Puig he hit rockets that went straight but not high. That extra lift they wanted out of him has ruined his mechanics.
When he ditches that and has time to work his old style back into shape we will have the old Puig back.
And he may still hit 30 hr a year just in his own way.

BZ you might be crazy... but that might also be a good thing

And TITS well those are always a good thing big or small.

IMO since BA is not a fantasy stat it is legit. Maybe not as good of a complete measure as some other stats but still of high value.

Sabre metric fan bois will now flame me..

My problem is, or not, is the fact that fantasy baseball plays a zero role in the way I view MLB.
My kid does it, really enjoys it, but anytime I have talked to him about it, it appears that a different set of stats have priorities, and some don't matter at all.
Lol..shit, I remember when striking out was a b-a-a-d thing, man.

    http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/joc-pederson-is-growing-into-his-contact/

This article just came out on Joc on how he really has improved a good bit over last year with his contact rate. He is still striking out a good bit, but that is also down about 4% from last year. As his mechanics continue to get refined (he still does have his good days and bad days at the plate), his numbers should keep improving. One thing to note, his BABIP is still pretty low at .270 and league average is .300. You can say, "well he makes bad contact", that would not be true as his soft contact rate is down to 15% which shows that he also has a good bit of bad luck (which I think many would agree with all the balls he has smoked right at 1B and 2B). His contact rate puts him between Excellent and Above League average for those numbers. We may not be seeing all the lofty stats we want from him right now, but if he keeps trending the way he has, his numbers in the .250-.270 range should be realistic.

Yup, one step at a time for him, it's coming.
I'm all about progression for young players as well, but I don't think people understand how close Joc was to being in AAA this year and for him to be where he is now is nothing short of amazing, so I'm more than happy with where he is right now.
Next year we'll see about another step after another offseason of refinement, when he can really lock in without being overloaded with info during a long/hectic season.
But again, if this it, this is fine too IMO

I think he would have been well served to have spent the final 45 days or so of last year in AAA.

Which would be great and like I said in the other thread, I think by age 26 he'll settle into the player he's going to be long term. A more well rounded offensive weapon.
