I worked at UPS once, its not that much different.
agreed for the most part
but the best of 5 series is the one that scares me most -- regardless of who we play
whichever team loses game 1 is in an immediate hole
I think baseball is going to have to consider moving to a 7 game first round series here soon. The shortened round doesn't give much leeway for just one of "those" games where a team gets a couple breaks and doesn't reward a complete team as much as 7 game does. A team with 1 great pitcher and merely 1 ok start somewhere else can win a series and that is not how things should work after a 162 game season. Have the season end on Sunday, Monday is open for potential play in, WC's Tuesday, 2 series Wednesday and 2 series Thursday, 2-3-2 with no off day between the 3-2 as to further reward the team with HFA.
Does anybody know where we would stand with a tie with the Astros? All this talk about the Indians and now the Astros are right back in it.... at least they've got 4 with the BoSox.
And @ Fenway too.
In that scenario I don't know how they'd break the tie
Interleague record or some crazy shit?
Ohhhh, I think you are correct and we fucking owned that. I guess the magic number is still 2 in that regard then.
Was I? Lucky guess
5 game series only in the first round involving the winner of the wild card and the team they face.
The penalties and advantages of a 5 win series are limited to the bubble teams who barely make the playoffs.
Magic number for HFA over the Astros is 2. We’re 3 games up on them
So we don’t have the tiebreaker with them? Cause if we win 1 more, at worse we tie with them at the end of the season.
Hm, I’m actually not sure about that. We didn’t play them this year so I THINK 2nd tiebreaker is record within division and I think dodgers don’t have a good one. Not sure though
Richards wants to burst into tears...I just know it.
I think you are correct.
MLB magic number: 1
(we clinch best record with one more win, or with one more loss from each of Cleveland and Houston)
Not an AL fan at all, but I think the potential for a Houston/Cleveland ALCS will be worth watching. That effer Altuve is a non-fat Tony Gwynn with the bat, man ...
This will never happen, but I'd like to see the season shortened to 154 games. There could be a few more off days during the season and the wildcard playoffs could be at the end of September, then the Division Series could start at the very beginning of October and be 7 game series. As it is, our division series won't start until Oct 6.
They need to have the playoffs start earlier. The wild cards get momentum while the playoffs teams sit on their asses for five days.
There was an interesting plan to model the WC playin after either the KBO or the Japanese playoffs. For the play in teams they need to have two games, but the higher seed only has to win one while the lower seed needs to win both.
Does more to burn pitchers.
Wild Cards should get ONE game at home in five, and TWO at home in a seven game series.
know that's harsh, but sorry...
division winners should get something for that
side note... if two wild cards make it to the ws they should have to play outside the country
What.....no pornographic countdown photos for MLB HFA?
Request to Irish: photoshop a picture of Heidi Whatney on the body of an attractive nude female.
(Can't believe I have to clarify this, but with Irish, you never really know)
