What - no A's fans?
Yeah .... yeah... I know ...
I’ve been living in the Bay Area for around 19 years. I must have been an awful person in my prior life to be put into baseball hell for all these years.
Unfortunately, I’ve pulled my kids into the purgatory that is being a Dodger fan. They don’t deserve such punishment. They don’t even have the privileged of having been alive for ‘80 and ‘88.
I’m an evil person.
I was just informed, our NL HFA Magic Number is actually 1.
We are 4-2 against the Braves this year, so we hold the tie-breaker. Meanwhile, the Yankees and Astros both hold the tie-breaker over us, so surpassing either for a potential HFA in the WS is pretty much off the table.
FWIW ... I put $50 on Minnesota to go to the WS, and whichever AL wild card team wins the game next week, I'll toss the other $50 on them to win the AL pennant as well.
I've had a couple of hundred bucks credit in Vegas for a few years now, and whenever I feel like it, I have my buddy place a bet for me out there. It's found money anyway.
It'd be sweet to see Houston & NY fans get hosed out of what each fanbase sees as their right to October.
Good luck to you. 6/1 odds sounds about right.
2 weeks ago I saw the Jags odds to win the SuperBowl at 200/1, which looked like a steal to me. I tried to get friends in Vegas to place a bet for me, but they don't bet regularly and didn't have the interest to roll down to a sports book. The Jags are now sitting at 100/1, which is where they should have been.
I know I likely pissed away my money, but if the Twins catch a break, it'll be a sweet payday.
I'm less certain that the AL WC team can manage the pennant. But the A's are much better than folks realize. Wouldn't be too surprised to see them upset the Yanks or Stros.
So you're a Phillies fan too?
Royals beat the Braves, so it’s official...
HFA in the NL.
The Braves, imo, have overachieved by a decent amount...
...I think they are good, but more like a 90-93 win team. Not the 99 win team they will finish as.
The Cardinals are about as good as I thought. A fringe 90 win team. Luckily for them, the rest of the division tanked, somewhat.
If we lose in the NL playoffs, it will be tough to swallow (homo).
ESPECIALLY if a team like the Rays, Indians, or Twins sneaks into the WS.
Missing out on facing a WS opponent that isn't quite in the "super team" category would be devastating.
