if you could see a band/performer
during their prime
who would you see
list your top 10
here are mine, in no particular order...
stevie ray vaughn
bryan ferry/roxy music
i'm sure i'm forgetting countless others
Ok I saw just about all yours
In no order
J S Bach
because last night it seemed every 5 minutes or so
someone came up with someone that we all said "oh yeah, for sure"
and good call on the classical composer/performers limey
i'd only add verdi and wagner to the list
then it would be over ten....
I would add Guess Who and Buffalo Springfield and any of the old Black blues guys
Prime is an interesting concept. Some bands had several primes.
I'd go with these bands/years off the top of my head (well, many stolen from above lists^):
The Who '70
^Ha! I forgot The Doors!
deano, sinatra and one of my personal faves bobby darin...
And, of course, Led Zeppelin.
I listen to a lot of classical and jazz these days. I wouldn't know where to start in those categories. And there's the element of time travel to consider - I wouldn't want to go back to the 30's...
Saw dino and sinatra.. good call on Bobby
i truly envy you
my dad knew frank pretty well
said he was actually a very nice guy
mom and dad saw a lot of the greats
i still have a lot of promo albums (vinyl obviously) that people gave my dad
ventures, julie london...
hell, i even have a beatles bootleg/promo that was never released
^ i might have to ask you about this limey
Did a tour with the Who as we were supporting them Moon was still alive and kicking but they were just so so live
The Live at Leeds album was radically overdubbed, but there again the mics and pa systems of those days just couldn't do the band justice
Best Live I ever saw was
Zep, Beatles, Stones,Sinatra,Vanilla Fudge,10cc, Genesis with Hackett and Gabriel, Tom Jones, Thelonius Monk,Oscar Peterson. The Doors,Blind Faith
Hendrix, Jeff Beck.. Pink Floyd
I met Sinatra but did not know him but yes he was a real nice guy and funny too
Live at Leeds over-dubbed? Vocals? I'd say an excellent job. I considered that my fav live record of all time. There's a 40th anniversary issue out there - where Live At Leeds is a double album, and they have thrown in a Live At Hull double album as well, from the same tour. The Tommy sets are awesome. Amazing the power that band could project.
i'm going to have to make an mp3 of this for you guys
could be worth millions
could be nada
traded my friend a johnny bench rookie card for it so i'm hoping its the former
Wall of Voodoo
Tupac (partly for the music, party cause I'm can't even believe what the atmosphere would be)
Did this kinda fast, I'm sure I'll come back and revise it.
good call on wall of voodoo joba
forgot the ramones
