    Seager to play shortstop only
by Vincent Samperio | Dodgers Nation — 1 hour ago

Corey Seager is the next projected superstar in the Los Angeles Dodgers infield, though there have been conflicts at what position it will be.

Seager was drafted at shortstop, and has played shortstop in the Minors; however, some believe that he could move to third base due to his size. The 6’4 infielder is bigger than the average shortstop, but it has yet to be a problem yet. Seager is starting Spring Training in camp with the Dodgers and Don Mattingly cleared up any confusion.

According to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times, Seager will be at one spot and one spot only this spring:

As of now, the Dodgers have no long-term players at shortstop or third base with Juan Uribe and Jimmy Rollins in the last year of their contracts. When the team traded for Rollins this winter, it was expected that he would provide the one year stopgap between Hanley Ramirez and Seager. It appears that Dodgers management considers their top prospect a shortstop, something that affect their plans addressing other positions in the future.

Seager is not expected to reach the big leagues until next season, but with injuries and September call-ups, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him reach the Dodgers this season. In 284 Minor League games, the 20-year-old has a combined .304 batting average, including a .349 average split between Advanced-A and Double-A in 2014. It’s unclear whether Seager will begin the year in Double-A or Triple-A this year.

The depth at shortstop is not very strong if Rollins does go down this season. After Rollins, there are utility infielders Darwin Barney and Justin Turner that can fill in. The only natural shortstop on the 40-man roster besides Rollins is Erisbel Arruebarren, who had trouble hitting in the big leagues.

It would appear the Dodgers want to prepare for the worst this spring, giving Seager the confidence at shortstop.

Two words in Mattingly's response are key..."this camp".

Rollins: “Oh yeah, I’m going to play beyond this year. Hopefully I’ll go out and have a fantastic season this year and the Dodgers will want to give me an extension to stay on the West Coast.”

Thought I read somewhere that Fardi and Andrew said when asked anything is possible and who knows what might happen. Just hope they have good communications with Rollins about his future and keep him focused and pumped. On the other hand knowing he is a certain free agent could add more motivation to an already motivated player.

Given the current construction of this entire organization, one thing is for sure...nothing is for sure. The outfield situation could change week to week, if injuries occur on the infield we could see any number of defensive alignments, the batting order is up for grabs, the bullpen is under construction, and the bench is anybody's guess. It certainly isn't out of the question that Rollins and/or Kendricks could be retained. Who could have foreseen last spring how important Turner would turn out to be? At the end of the season, who thought Gordon would be dealt? I'm counting on more of the same this season. Surprises both good and bad.

    Play ball!

We need some reference for the scale. Is it safe to assume 2=Ronald Belisario, and 8=Mariano Duncan?

I'll go with 5, but I can be convinced of a 6 in the future

    hahaha
Especially being behind the 8 ball...such an odd thread direction on a BB website to have taken. Did I venture on the SF forum?
My tuppence? His canines are a bit vampiric for me...it's like Patricia Arquette (when she was hot, mind you). She had a great body, a really stacked, voluptuous woman. But you always got back to staring at her elongated meat tearing teeth.
And I think this kid should be ss material ONLY. Sure he's athletic enough to play most anywhere probably.
No need to change him...let's get the full Monty from this guy. Some guys are born to play a certain position, day to day.

WTF? Belisario not good looking you're saying?
He's alright, as far as urban myths go...or is it rural myths?
The Brad Pitt of goat suckers, man...
I'll admit, he's no Kevin McHale

Thanks for making me feel I wasn't alone in room full of :homos:.

I don't care if the cocksucker looks like Don Mossi so long as he can hit for power and average while fielding his position well.
