I could see it, that team is old and just about every key player on the team has injury issues- Ellsbury- 150+ games once in 4 years McCann- 140+ games once in 5 years and the most he has played in the last 3 is 128 Jeter- Busted ankle Tex- Chronic Wrist injury that could zap power Sabathia- Declining MPH ARod- Gone for year Their starting 2B and 3B are going to be Kelly Johnson and Brian Roberts, not to mention one of the worst farm systems in the game providing zero depth. The Rays have one of the best rotations and the Red Sox are bringing back almost the same team that just won the WS. The Orioles are the wild card and I actually feel bad for them. They have loads of young talent and the ability to add to the payroll, yet the owner won't budge to put them over the top. They should be pursuing a good front of the rotation pitcher, but have sat on their hands this whole off season. The Jays could be an interesting team to watch if they add a pitcher as well. That is a really tough division.
And as soon as I post that about the O's @jonahkeri 4m Source: #Orioles making progress on Fernando Rodney. O's expected to make 1 other significant move as well.
Masahiro Tanaka says he chose to play for the New York Yankees because they appreciated him the most among the many teams in the majors who were chasing him. translation, $155MM
Had to bump. Wrong team but at least I had it right about him not coming here. Been out of town sorry for chiming in late.
Thank goodness for Casey Close and his requirement of having opt outs IF he turns out to be good then he could come to us. I know we don't want him now that he chose unwisely.
mod? anyone seen a mod? time to close this piece of shit thread about some over paid Yankee chest thumper who thinks he's gonna run off some 24-0 shit in the BIGS... too bad he went to the AL and we'll only get to kick his ass in October :threadclosed:
wasn't long ago this guy was supposed to be the man is this tanaka's fate as well?... The Mets have re-signed right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka to a minor league deal with an invitation to Major League Spring Training, the club announced on Twitter. Matsuzaka would earn $1.5MM if he lands in the big leagues, tweets Joel Sherman of the New York Post. __
Talk about desperation? Pathetic Yankees!!! LMAO!!! Yankees $155MM, Cubs $120MM,Diamondbacks $120MM, Dodgers $119MM, White Sox $100MM, Astros $100MM.
What I see are four teams that never had a chance and the Yankees paying $36MM extra to convince him to not sign with the Dodgers. You're right. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.
It also came down to having Hiku and Ichiru as teammates instead of us having no fellow Japanese players here. He'll regret it.
This is why all of those "He wants this" and "He wants that" articles are total bullshit. These guys always go for the money. If he wanted to play in LA as bad as some reports said he did, he would be a Dodger right now. I want to be a Dodger too, but if someone else comes along and offers me 25% more to play for them, fuck yeah I am gonna take that opportunity.
