thats what i'm going to be doing
i think there is an advantage if you continue to use spectrum internet as well
an app that costs $35 a month i've heard?
can't do this TWC ass rape any longer
So far this ST my fire stick has been spotty to say the least but I'm hoping it'll improve once this starts to count. Movies and TV have been alot more consistent that the sports.
For anybody using a VPN service unlocator seems to have stopped working for me so I have sought out a new one and found "Private Internet Access" it's a little more complicated, but I found it in a few article for "Top 10 VPN services in 2018".
AT&T prevails as Time Warner takeover gets OK from judge
AT&T on Tuesday won a federal judge’s approval for its $85 billion deal to acquire Time Warner, prevailing over the federal government.
U.S. District Judge Richard Leon rejected the government’s argument that a combination of AT&T and Time Warner would give the telecom giant an unfair advantage over rival cable companies. AT&T expects to complete the deal by June 20.
While the U.S. Department of Justice could choose to appeal the decision, Leon warned that government officials should “have the good judgement [and] wisdom” not to seek a stay to temporarily prevent the deal from moving forward. The judge added that a stay would be a burden to AT&T, which has paid billions in its legal defense of the deal.
“This decision was a sound and proper rejection” of the government’s argument, Daniel Petrocelli, AT&T’s lead attorney on the case, said outside the court building.
Not a gawd damned word anywhere on whether this means Los Angeles FINALLY gets to see the $#%&*@#$&*^ Dodgers!!
but mebbe... or mebbe not.. bunch of greedy damned bastards
They don’t give a goddamn about it.
Essentially all the execs are smiling because they are either gonna get huge bonuses for sealing the deal or are kicking their chops for a gigantic retirement severance payment.
The lower level people are fucked....as usual.
Different entities, this does nothing in regards to the broadcasts.
It's not Time Warner Cable
$)%&*$*)%#)&* gawd damned faceless name changing corporate demons
8/4, 8/15, 8/20, 8/31 and 9/4 for scheduled KTLA broadcasts.
Spectrum rep knocked on my door last Saturday, selling their sludge to anyone who'd listen. Didn't even say anything. Just slammed the door and locked it. I refuse to feed that monstrous whore.
They're not going to get the wide coverage they did on PrimeTicket. The Dodgers need to get Spectrum to just bite the bullet and find a different solution. The team is losing exposure, not money.
Offer SNLA a la carte to DirectTV. This will allow those who want to pay for the channel to get it at home and allow bars and restaurants to show the games.
Create a paid Dodgers streaming app for games only (no original programming) without the contingency of having Spectrum. Price it to cover the loss if people drop Spectrum in favor of the Dodgers app.
Simulcast 5 games per month on over-the-air television
You make too much sense which is why nothing will happen.
Spectrum should just put the games on the internet. Charge a crazy subscription fee of $20 a month.
Ton of people would pay for it.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS! I'd pay that, gladly. But no .... that's too smart of a decision ...
The original plan was to get $5 from every cable and satellite subscriber in the LA market. So there’s probably no a la carte subscription they could sell that would bring in anything near that.
That said, they have clearly lost that battle. So anything to recoup a fraction of what they are spending would make sense. If they can offer a subscription without losing their own cable subscribers, then it would make sense.
Doing it themselves through the internet at an inflated price is also a way for them to take a shot at Direct TV. Many Dodger fans might just forgo any cable/satellite provider and just get neftlix/prime/hulu and other direct to consumer broadcasting apps.
I'm not certain of the economics of cable services, so please shoot this theory down as plebeian if it is illogical, but ...
Arent't providers wary of 'ala carte' options because it would torpedo the myriad channels they carry that nobody watches anyway? Those little channels may not get viewers, but they pay to be included in a service's options to subscribers, yes?
Ala carte would shoot those little nothings in the head. I mean, seriously, even the most intense watcher of any service might watch 10-12 different channels regularly, and I would say I never watched more than five at my most sedentary. As I understand it, the popular channels that folks want (HBO, Showtime, Starz, AMC, TNT, ESPN, etc.) draw in subscribers, and thus subsidize the pissy little nothing channels. The knitting network or Hallmark or whatever, they can say they have X number of subscribers, but we all know their ratings are crap. They'd be even crappier if Comcast or Spectrum dropped them completely because no one would pay to see that shit. Even streaming services like Hulu and Netflix offer shows that win Emmys and get critical-plaudits, but nobody watches ... If Variety can admit that, it must be the truth ...
I mean, if ala carte starts becoming a thing, aren't all those vagina channels and shopping clubs and infomercials channels and most public access, foreign language, religious programming channels - which all totalled, number in the hundreds - gone, daddy, gone, unless people subscribe to cable and get packages that include that stuff?
I blathered there. Sorry. Carry on ...
Lad ye' blather not.
I personally know two (admittedly oldish) women who spend stupid amounts of money on shopping channels. Imagine the old girls golf wives talking and shopping on their phones at the club during lunch. No shit. Jewelry+ If I didn't know them 30 years I'd dispute me but they love to shop and hubby can afford whatever trinkets might sway her eyes.
But me? We agree, "F" all of those stupid shopping channels!! I do not need 5 different Shark vacuum or Bullet blender channels 24 /7.
And living currently with DirecTV they waste dozens of channels of "Upcoming... or pending..." Well then "F" you, turn the channel on when you have something to show, otherwise quit wasting my remote channel up/down bandwidth.
To my view you are right, the Telco's want to sell us 'the most entertainment' as if we measured that by quantity of channels, and then they flood the channels with crap, pending crap, sales crap and precious little actual entertainment.
and for more gawddamn money every month!!
whoops rant aborted.. reset
circling back... ...
we will NEVER get to see the Dodgers play again
they are hostage of a nation sized corporate media power play
and we fans lost
