I’d love to keep him as like an ambassador or something. Really sad we couldn’t get him a ring.

He played well in the few times he got a chance in the playoffs.

Chas billingsley had/has less charisma than a corpse

And I miss Casey Blake, he was a favorite

Hope Andre comes back in a PH role. I’d give him 5 or 6M and another shot at a ring

If we kept Utley’s old ass for an extra year just for leadership, they can keep Ethier (who is still productive) as a bench option for the next season or so.

Andre never outwardly showed the personality of being a positive clubhouse leader, in fact, the only times anyone heard from him was bitching about playing time and/or hinting at wanting a trade. That said, I never held it against him bc he always took it out on the other team and for that, he's always been one of my favorite Dodgers during his tenure here. Good luck Dre, and if you hang it up and open a restaurant, I'll come have a meal there. :)

Marlins do not want to take any money back nor do they want to pay any of Stantons salary.
They are going to sell the fan base on the 4 year plan the Astros just went on.
They want good prospects or good young players that are cost controlled for a good while.
In fact they may want to dump some of their other bad contracts on us too.
The only prize out of their contracts would be Yelich.

    RF: Stanton
    CF: Puig
    3B: Turner
    1B: Bellinger
    SS: Seager
    LF: Yelich
    2B: Taylor
    C : Realmuto

Bench: Joc, Dee, Prado, Kike, Barnes

Dodgers would not need to resign Forsythe unless they want to cut Prado which may not be a bad idea.
They have a huge pool of pitchers to choose from so there is no need to bring in relief pitchers.
The only FA they would need is Darvish, Otani, and to bring back Morrow.

Dodgers trade: Gavin Lux, Yadier Alvarez, Yusniel Diaz, Edwin Rios, Will Smith, Pedro Baez, Brock Stewart, Ross Stripling, Kyle Farmer, Andrew Toles, Alex Verdugo.
Marlins trade: Mike Stanton, JT Realmuto, Christian Yelich, Brad Ziegler, Junichi Tazawa, Wei Yen Chen, Dee Gordon, Martin Prado, Edison Volquez

Sure some of those veteran pitchers are not horrible. Better than having MehCarthy in a playoff game. This is grab bag prize for the nerds game of bullpen DL roulette.
Plus, lots of asians in there.
Prado is our new old bench Utley type. Unless we retain Forsythe.
    Realmuto can throw people out.
Dee, nobody cares for Dee but get over it. He should be alright for a couple of years until we can get someone big. Dee can be used to run and make shit happen at the end of the lineup or he can be trade bait.
We can live without pretty much every guy we trade away.
The guys we take back are all owed lots of money. Most just have 1 or 2 more years on their deals though.
All that money being taken back will allow us not to have to trade our better assets that we may like a little better. Like Buehler, Ruiz, Kendall, Peters, White, etc...
And the Marlins get a ton of cheap players that can play for them next season and a few good prospects for the future.
Most importantly Jeter needs to cut payroll to under 90M and this will get it there.

Today will officially be the first day of free agency at 2 PM PST. Don't expect really any signings, but things should start happening in the next week or so. The other date to pay attention to is Nov 20 when the 40 Man needs to be set. Last year started off with a bang when Cameron Maybin was traded two days after the WS, but things will likely be pretty slow until the Marlins start making their moves.

Just put up with some High Heat so that I could hear what Heyman had to say about Stanton. Here are his points....
    - Stanton’s ideal scenario is the Dodgers, #2 is the Giants. This based on what he has heard from folks connected to him, but that’s it. East Coast another preference.

    - The Dodgers have shown no signs of being interested in Stanton and are not expected to get involved.

    - The Giants only chance of landing Stanton is believed to be for them to take on most of that contract as the Marlins don’t like their farm system.

    - The Marlins lost over 40 mil last season, so finding somebody that will take on as much money as possible is the goal, but want good pitching prospects in return. They want to make this is a quick turnaround.

    - The Marlins ideally would like to send him to St Louis as they have the financial flexibility and the prospects.

    - The Phillies are not likely to get into the bidding. They are rumored to be gearing up to make a run at Machado AND Harper next offseason.

Something tells me Stanton doesn't care much about the Marlins' goals. If the Cards are offering to take on significantly more money and just offering a better package in general than say Boston, but Stanton wants Boston..Marlins eat shit. Stanton has the no trade clause. If Stanton's smart enough to not want to call either of those overly racist venues home, all 3 teams eat shit. I know he wants Dodgers, but Stanton should also be cool with Mets, Cubs or Braves. Stanton and Freddie Freeman are buds from what I know, but Jeter ultimately may not want to keep Stanton within the division, give rivals a boost. So I turn back to the Cubs..and then look to the AL for another couple teams that he should be good with..Seattle with Dipoto or the folks at Dipoto's old gig the Halos. Halos obviously don't have a ton of pitching to offer and they just gave a big deal to Justin Upton on top of that, but if Arte is still in the giving mood..Stanton, Upton, Trout could be a tough trio. Take on almost the whole contract and give himself a little insurance if Trout wanders away to the Yanks after the 2020 season. Seattle, they just need any injection of life they can get at this point.

Rube and Zack Cozart vehemently disagree with this assessment.

O'Koyea Dickson has been cut from the 40 man and was outrighted to OKC. Dayton, Garcia, Kazmir, Liberatore, Ravin and Toles have been re-added to the 40-Man

If you're Stanton, and you elected not to hit free agency a couple years back - essentially doing the team a favor back then, this is now basically your free agency. With that full no trade clause, call your shot. There's no rule that says you have to play nice.

They were all on the 60 Day and needed to be added back to the 40 man by a certain date.
