"Belly whopper" has always been my favorite.

"Up to his hips in alligators"
"best laid plans of mice and men"

Vin's the best. He always brings his A game. The thought of him retiring soon is depressing. We all better enjoy him this year. Great idea for a thread and nice opening, darth550.

Queensland And Northern Territory Aerial Service.
I had always thought it was "airline" instead of aerial...but Vinny was determined to tell us that anagram. I love his non-baseball related info, too.
I guess the classic is "Ugla means owl in Swedish"...but there are many others.
At least once a year, he comes back with the tallest man story (Robert Wadlow, I think) and his sad life.
And the Eddie Gaedel story , the Cards dwarf batter, who also had a sad life.

I always find it amusing and sad when someone a fan of another team thinks Vin is too, "boring and slow". It tells me that they probably do not understand the game. Vin is perfect for baseball (of course I could hear him reading trampoline instructions and be content). He understands the pace, the nuances, the internal struggles, and the importance of every moment. Even in blowouts he seems to be able to capture the moment in a way that makes you realize it is but one game.

    Marching and chowder society.

    A one man gang.

    Public Enemy number one.

On Mark Reynolds: "He strikes out so much, he strikes out in batting practice."

    He then embarrassingly apologized.
